Obama makes an Unconstitutional Appointment

Prs. Elect Obama apparently is as ignorant about the US Constitution as the Do Nothing Duo. According to the US Constitution, spending is entirely the responsibility of the Legislative Branch. Being clueless to this fact, he has named Nancy Killefer as his administration's chief performance officer. True, the incompetent fools we laughingly call Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader have never understood any part of their jobs as Housemember or Senator, much less shown the slightest bit of leadership ability. So I guess it doesn't suprise anyone that they have no idea what the US Constitution mandates of them anyway. It doesn't matter how qualified or competent Nancy Killefar might be. Her appointment should never have been made because Obama, Pelosi and Reid should know their jobs. This doesn't bode well for our Constitution or our nation... but I doubt there is an Obama supporter out there who cares.

Is it actually that they don't know the Constitution, or they do know it but don't see why they should follow it? And also assume that most people don't know it.

It's sad, and getting worse. I walk the streets of the country I was born in, feeling like I'm watching it slip away. Our government passes laws that makes changes that make me feel like I am walking the streets of some dictatorship, or something worse. This no longer feels like the country I was born, and raised in. Although I can't put my finger on anything that could be worse than that? For some time now, our leaders have been twisting and turning our constitution and laws to suit their own needs, at our expense. And, for generations, we the citizens have let them. Apparently, the Constitution the founders of this Country so painstakedly drafted for our protection, is as meaningless today, as we the people are to the elected powers that be. When are people going to wake up and understand that the politicians will say what you want to hear. O'Bama make change for the better! Ha! All the celebrating you saw when he was elected, will soon turn into tears of sorrow, as the winds of change emerge in their favor, not in ours. That's what our country has turned into. Them, and us. The have's, and the have nots. We are currently living under the result of generations before us not doing anything about the laws politicians wanted to enact, or change. And, in years to come, our grand children, and great grand children will have to live with the consequences of what us, we the people, have allowed our politicians to do today. When it comes to choice, what do we have? Did we really have a voice in selecting our presidential candidates? Unless you are rich, or represent a special interest group, chances are you didn't have a voice either. With each passing day the voice of the american citizen is being silenced, our power being taken away from us, and our fears escalating. This country is very quickly going downhill, and I for one am pondering my options. What choices do I have for myself, and my family as I watch my freedom being taken away from me day by day. One option is to plan on getting out as soon as possible. If that's the course my family decides we need to take, I pray it happens before this country gets to the point where I can't. In the meantime, I simply continue to pray, trust in the God that had gotten me this far, and work toward my own personal goals. Afterall, isn't that what the politicians have been doing for years? Looking out for themselves, and lining their pockets with our money?

Each President when he (or maybe she) enters office is required to swear the following oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." I think any President who, as one of their first actions, breaks this oath to protect and defend the Constitution, either through ignorance or otherwise, should be removed from office. After all, they've already shown they cannot be trusted and have broken one of the most important - if not the most important - laws of their country.

Thanks for giving the sheeple one more item of proof that the current and upcoming administrations have zero regard for the U.S. Constitution they've either sworn to uphold or are about to swear to uphold. Another hint for the sheeple: When ya watch the inauguration, actually listen to the words that are actually being sworn to. They may not include the upholding of the Constitution.

I do my best to educate people on the Constitution. It seems our education system won't, so I figure the least I can do is try to do their jobs for them. I agree, if the Oath of Office is not taken by Prs. Elect Obama (as written in teh US Constitution), he will never be legitimate. No matter what his minions say.

interesting. I'm going to be listening. The oath of office is right in the constitution and the constitution states the oath must be sworn as it reads. I'll be listening for sure.

i dont get how these athiest groups can file law suits on everyone but leave obama out stating "it's up to him to say it, but i advice he'd not". seems like the simplest of things obama has to do is being challenged by everyone. oh, and did anyone here really have a problem when reciting the pledge of alligience? i cant even remember doing that anymore and im just 22.

It seems to me that our Constitution has been cavalierly tossed around for a while now. Our entire Congress as well as the Federal government itself has butchered it and forgotten what their actual duties are. I find it all so disappointing. Even worse, the American people seem to have forgotten what the actual job of the Federal Government is. So, I care but holy crap, the sense of entitlement in this country is astounding!

My problem isn't that they have forgotten, my problem is that so many don't seem to care at all. I have a feeling that Obama could demand the US Constitution be destroyed and most of his supporters wouldn't care in the least.

I guess it depends on what her duties would be. If she is an ax woman who is going to recomend budget cuts that congress must aprove, then fine. If she is going to try and circumvent congress in spending, than, no....wrong wrong wrong. But than again, king henry and prince bernankie have already stole all that power out from under congress a few months ago anyway, whats one more constitutioanl violation.

"Killefer, a director of a management consulting firm who previously served as an assistant secretary of the treasury under President Bill Clinton, will work with federal agencies to set performance standards and hold agency managers accountable for progress." Unconstituitonal!

great, just what we need, another branch of government. I don't think thses guys give a flying crapp about the constitution anymore and this goes for the current adminoistration, the last on and the incomming one. How much more are people in this country going put up with. Seriously, what is it going to take to finaly push people over the edge and drive an outright rebellion? I tell ya, the longer it brews the more violent and brutal it will be. I've been saying something like this is comming for a while now and the more I see, the more I read and the more people I talk to, the more I'm convinced I'm right.

lol...you just said she is an ax woman who is going to recommend cuts that congress must approve, well theres what 535 members of congress, and "they" dont have to do anything. if congress has to approve something she suggest, theres nothing illegal here since congress is approving it.

He knows the constitution, studied it quite well, if I'm correctly informed. And he knows its loopholes. And probably doesn't even care. He can do what he wants, don't you know that? lol. Yes, it's a shame and shouldn't take place. It'll officially probably be laid out as an advisory function (the 'work with' part of the announcement can be interpreted that way). For the agencies it will be considered patriotic to follow her advice.

Well, if it is strictly advisory, and her advice only applies to the use of funds budgeted for the Executive Branch, then it will not be unconstitutional. However, how Prs. Elect Obama desribes the job, it definitely is.

This doesnt make any sense, you have to elaborate, as all spending budgets are approved by congress, like the one obama will hold sometime in january, you know the budget address every president hopes cogress will 'approve'. i dont understand how you think the president can appoint someone to office that just spends tax payer money. thats what is sounds like your saying, if this were the case congress would cease to exist. so please elaborate

This has nothing to do with spending, it has to do with oversight. Now, if she is only going to be monitoring the spending of the Executive Branch then there's no Constitutional problem here. But if she is to have oversight authority over federal spending in general, then Obama has no authority to create the position at all.

ok i get what your saying, sorry. i think she can only recommend cuts, this executive power she will have to persuade is limited since there are republicans in the house, and a few democrats that think on their own. What we should do is form a watch dog group on her, and see if she pulls a blago if she doesnt get what she want's. Casue really? what can she possibly do to change the mind of law maker's convince them its for the good of the whole? Ha!

It seems to me, that what is going into the Whitehouse, is a duplication of what is in the majority of our society: Pride, selfishness, greed, doing what one wants to, no matter the cost to someone else, and a host of other things. When one does a little searching back in history - one can see the symptomns of a 'dying' nation. One of the major things is that the morals of a nation goes down the tubes. We're doing that. Another is that lawlessness, becomes more prevalent. That is happening. Another thing is the belief, trust, and servanhood to God is thrown out the window. that too is happening on a scale not seen before in American history. Yet another symptomn, is crookedness in the governmental offices, and in and throughout the leagal system. Out of control fasination with money and materialsm abounds, and we're teaching the next generation these examples, which will escalate these symptomns more and more. Eventually by these activities mentioned above, we are slowly by our 'choices' - throwing away the protection of a loving God, who must honor our choices to live the way we wish, and believe what we want to - - but by not following His principles and commands, we are forfieting the soul. strength, and safety of the people who live in our beloved nation. We are in a downward spiral, and have been for some time. It is not completely the government, but we the people have chose to do our own thing, and therefore are paying the price for it. When more of us do what is right, and turn back to our morality and faith in a loving God (Not Religion!), we'll better see how to vote and not be deceived by politicians that do not have a good agenda for our people. 'Nuff said. C. C.

I wonder if he'll try to use the fact that the Constitution doesn't explicitly say who the job of spending all the money goes to as a means to excuse his choice. It's implied in the first article, but the constitution doesn't actually say that it's the legislative branch's sole responsibility to spend U.S. revenue. I'll be interested in seeing how this plays out. I still believe we're in for another four years of shoddy executive power. Just because we changed the gift wrap doesn't mean we changed the gift.

There's a saying: "No matter who you vote for, the government always wins".
