Crazy family "ties"

Ok so here is the deal as I understand it (and I am not real clear on this at all). My grandfather's 5th cousin's widowed wife moved to Illinois and married an Obama who is directly related to President Elect Obama. That would make the President Elect my 7th cousin by marriage. Now isn't that a freaky thing to have happen? My grandfather's 5th cousin's last name was Bunch before she married an Obama she was from Huntsville Ar (actully born in Kingston Arkansas).
My dad just told my brother this. I have not researched any of these facts other than knowing that I have a 7th cousin name frank bunch who's widow remarried. But it is interesting none the less.
Do you have any weird family ties? Confirmed or unconfirmed?

I am supposed to be some kind of cousin to Wayne Newton but I don't know anymore how we were linked. And really I'm not sure if it is true or just wishful thinking on one of my relatives minds. But I have heard it all my life so maybe there is something to it.

I don't have any crazy family ties like that as far as I know. It is strange when you go back and back what you discover though. My mom has a family tree thing for her side of the family that goes back a few generations. No one famous or important that I have seen.
