There's A Hole In My Biscuit Barrell

Have you ever sat down with your favourite snack or the biscuit barrel with yummy biscuits in it and then suddenly realized that the barrell was empty, or the packet was empty? The box of chocolates which had no chocolates in it?
Do you lift the packaging up and wonder if they are underneath, or wonder well on earth the biscuits, chocolates or what is meant to be inside the container, jar, packet have gone to?
Does it suddenly sink in that you've polished them all off yourself?
When there's no one to blame but yourself how do you feel afterwards when you've realized that it's YOU that has eaten a whole bag of chips, biscuits, chocolates
Do you feel guilty or do you deny all knowledge that it was you who had eaten them all?
Do you keep saying to yourself one more and that's it and find you've gobbled the entire box up?
Over Christmas I confess that I was a gannet in that I took a tub of salted cashews up to my room to watch Star Wars, when the film had finished the tub was empty!

Up to three ounces of dark chocolates daily are good for you. Nuts, in moderation are good for you. How about, maybe, chocolate covered nuts. Sounds yummy. I think this time of year is really hard. If I had a box of chocolates here, I would eat until I was sick.

All that you have said has a phsycological meaning. I was watching a programme on tv (UK Living) by Paul Mc Kenna if I remember well his name. One of the rules to watch your diet is not to eat in front of tv. He made an experiment. He presented cinema goers with a bag of popcorn that it was a one week old. The interviewed the persons who got out of the cinema and checked their popcorn bag. The cinema goers did not notice that the popcorn was not fresh. They were offered another bag of fresh popcorn and when they were made aware they noticed that yes it was fresher and more tastier. Mac Kenna developed a tapping technique to control your hunger and your appetite.

Thanks for the best response award. It is amazing how such things don't fall into your mind unless you are made aware by others.

The experiment meant that we d ont have control over food when we are distracted such as watching a movie or television.

Oh Wolfie, salted cashews, I love them! I am not a sweet eater, I love salty snacks so I understand you going to town with those nuts. It's been a while since I had some so when I go to the supermarket today I will pick some up, I just have to walk very fast past the section where the potato chips are.

This happens ALL the time, Wolfie! And I've often wondered whether the calories don't count if a person doesn't know whether they've eaten them or not? Mind you, I had an opposite experience the other day - I was rummaging through the pantry and found a tin of choc-mint corinthians which I'd bought at Christmas time and completely forgotten about! Bonus!

Hey wolfie! I sure have done that myself many times! And just
couldn't remember doing it and that is the worst feeling!
Not remembering finishing off a whole bag or box of something
and really wanting it and knowing that there just isn't any
in the house! I hate that when that happens! I get so upset
when I do something like that and forget! I am not as bad as
I used to be! There are certain things that I actually have
to count out and put away so that I don't end up finishing
the box or bag of! How sad is that!

Hi ya wolfie34
Oh yes, that'll be me then. I don't deny it, I have no one else to blame but then I have no one else around to give me that knowing glare either! I hate it when I go to drink my coffee and nothing goes into my mouth because I just simply forgot that I did drink it all!!

I don't have the problem with the biscuit barrel as Mr Croc always get the blame for that being empty. I do have problems with Cadburys chocolate fingers though. If they are left on the settee they disappear. I think having a leather settee is the problem, it gets hungry and loves chocolate fingers.

I too admit to have eaten an entire sleeve of Thin Mints, Fig Newtons, and Oreos! The only way I can control this is to not buy them. I have tried to put them into small portions but eventually go back for "just one more!" @gabs8513 (48686)

I am that way about cookies, that is biscuits to you. If I have an open package in the house, I cannot stop. Most everything else, I am okay and can stop. Even the salted cashews. Those are good though. In my mind, nuts are healthier for you than baked goods. Too much of anything can be bad. I did do that with celery sticks a time or two.

I can also pig out on fruit but that just prolongs my visits to the toilet! I love crunchy pears, have to be crisp and crunchy and not soft, I like my fruit in the fridge, yes I know I'm barmy LOL! I use the excuse that nuts are full of protein ideal if I go to the gym and being salty they replace the salt that I sweat out of my system when working hard training, that's my excuse anyhow! Takes the guilt of eating too many nuts!

I have two favorites from my local grocery store. One is a certain type of cookie, chocolate chip with macadamias, the other some southwestern barbecue chips with a green onion cream cheese ball. Everyone knows that those are strictly mine and NOT to touch them. Needless to say, when they are gone the only guilt is my own.

Oh no, I can't believe you eat all those cashews all by yourself. hahaha
