My sister knows that I love beef jerky and when she was in Arkansas last week she bought me some Amish Kosher Beef Jerky. She got me a whole pound. After I ate the first piece she told me how much it was. $26 A POUND!!!!!!! It was so good! I made the mistake of letting my son try a piece. The other day when he got home from school he asked me if he could have a snack. Little did I know he grabbed my jerky! Boy ate almost 1/4 pound. Have you ever gotten an expensive gift like that before? Have you ever paid way too much for something because it was really good? Would you pay $26 for a pound of beef jerky?

That was really generous of your sister. I received an expensive food gift from my husband's friend this Christmas. I looked it up online, and it cost $76.00, a gift box from Hickory farms. I think if I had a special treat that cost that much a pound, I would hand out portions LOL, your son, only knew that it tasted good, so he was helping himself :-) Only if I had a lot of money to spare would I buy something at $26.00 per pound. Your sister really must think you are special.

I knew that those Hickory Farms things were not cheap when you said you got one, but I did not realize that he gave you guys one that was that much. Wow, cool! I normally buy this beef jerky that is $12 a pound. My kids go through it like it is nothing. I should have known better than to leave the really expensive stuff where he could get to it.

Excuse me? That is one expensive cow. You both seemed to have really enjoyed it. SO I guess it was worth it. But I think I would pass on that expense.

Yup, a VERY expensive cow. It was very good though. My son requested more from my sister. I doubt he will get it as fast as he eats the stuff.

A couple of years ago my hubby bought me a very expensive box of gourmet chocolate truffles. It was in a gorgeous large box which looked like it had two tiers. When I opened it there was only one tier and lots of ruffly expensive looking paper cups holding each piece of chocolate. He told me he paid like $30 for it and it was on sale! He was expecting at least 24 pieces but there were only 8! He said, "They better really damn good!" When I bit into the first one it was soooooo indescribably wonderful. Like no chocolate I've ever eaten before. Looking back on it, it was worth it just to have them once, but I'm sorry he bought them! We will never buy them again... so I have to suffer with the knowledge that every other piece of chocolate I eat from now on will never compare to those chocolate truffles.

Last Mother's Day one of my brothers ordered some Godiva Chocolate for my mother and had it shipped to her. It was around $50 I think. She got it in this huge box. Inside the box was a Styrofoam cooler. Inside the Styrofoam cooler was an ice pack and 2 tiny boxes. One box had like 6 truffles in it and the other had 5.

$26 for beef jerky? I think Amish people were trying to rip you off. But to answer your question, no, no one ever buys me expensive gifts. And no again to paying $26 for beef jerky. I'll happily snap into a slim jim for that price.

I like Slim Jim's, but they are not nearly as good as beef jerky.
