Have you got fake money before?

Hi youless! I was paid with a fake Php500 (approx $10) years ago when I was still managing a shop. I didn't know it was a fake and I was depositing it in the bank and I was told by the bank employee that it was a fake banknote. I was given more infornmation by the bank on how I will spot a fake banknote and I was thankful for that. Since then I am very careful in accepting banknotes. A few months ago, a friend of mine received a fake Php1000 (approx $20)which he spotted only after the buyer left. Unfortunately for my friend, he didn't know the buyer and so he just kept the banknote as a reminder for him to be cautious. He taped it in his cash register for him to see everyday. Yes I have received counterfeit money before. I used to manage a food store. A women came through my register to check out. WHen she paid me I marked the money with the special pen they have that tells whether the money is authentic or not, It wasnt. We had to call the police. They take the money and investigate. I felt bad for the women she was crying. It was obvious that she didnt know where it came from. The police ended up letting her go. I dont know if they ever gave her a new $20 bill. dl

This happened to me a few weeks before christmas... i don't know where i got them... but the maintenance guy in my office noticed these fake 50 and 100 peso bills... not that much... but still money that i could have used to buy my lunch... so now... i am very careful when i get bills as change... and i hope the government get those people who are producing these fake money...

Hello youless. Thank you for the mention above. I have also read and heard about this news on radio and the Internet that recently fake one-hundred-yuan RMB is appearing somewhere like ghosts. I hate it when fake money comes into the market. I used to get some fake money when buying things, but that was a long time ago. The best solution to this issue is for every one of us to be able to recognize the real money from the fake money. Thank you again for it and take care.

yes!when i was working in a pharmacy i almost got the 1000 peso fake money.i am glad our casher was not that stupid.

I guess it's quite easy to be given fake money in your change, I have only ever been given fake coins in my change but never, thankfully notes, we have machines in most establishments that can check if a note is counterfeit or not but that only protects the business from receiving fake money but it doesn't stop them giving it over to anyone else.

When I worked in a grocery store someone tried to pass off a $5USD note that looked nothing like the real note. Today most countries are using color and other security measures to ensure the currency they hold is real. Thanks Zelo
