How hard is it to adopt internationally?

My husband and I have always considered adopting a child, internationally, one day when we are financially stable. Out of curiosity.. does anyone know how hard it is to adopt a child from some place like Romania or Mexico? I would love to adopt here, in the US, but it's so hard - my other choices would be from the places I mentioned above. Has anyone here on MyLot ever done an international adoption?
