I refused the HRT but I am taking Effexor. It's actually an antidepressant but it has a side effect of reducing the hot flashes. I'm hoping they don't last to much longer. I still have them just not as intense as they were before.

hmm i didnt know that about effexor! i will have to keep that in mind because i think for one of the conditions i have they were gonna put me on that so maybe in the future i can just switch to it and take care of both problems

is hrt that stuf they give to menopausal women so they dont go insane from hotflashes? (links arent active in email alerts, so i didnt read the article ) if it is.. no i wont be taking it. i will suffer through the crap like every other woman did until it ends before they came up with this stuff thats sposed to "help" but apparently makes you stupid. o.O id rather sweat and possibly grow a goatee than have an anuerism burst in my head, or wind up dr00|ing on myself in a corner not knowing who i am.

I have also read this article in a shortened form in a newspaper, well let me tell you my friend you cannot take this news as the absolute truth.I have seen so many women who had HRT treatment, and they are hale and hearty. In India lot of woman above the age of 45 have had HRT and I have not seen many woman having strokes or dementia, believe me I am in the pharmaceutical business and I see a lot of Doctors every day and I should know.
