Well here in Minnesota we are now in a heatwave. It is supposed to get above zero for the first time in 3 days. I hope so anyhow. Right now this is what my furnace smoke stacks look like with the temperature at -5F and a windchill of -22F. Check out the chilly photo attatched. You can see the winds blowing as the heat from the chimney is moving quickly. It is so cold that the heat escaping upwards from the stacks is literraly freezing making a popcicle on the smaller chimney stack. This small one is for an air release only not for the heat from the furnace etc. It is for air escape only. The heat from this is just the heat from the attic is all that escapes to keep the mpoisture out. Usually I get a very small blob of ice on the big stack but never this big and never on the smaller one. It got down to -24F last night with a windchill of -45F. Minnesobrrrrrrr! Are you all toasty warm in your area? I am even though it's chilly. Getting a major January thaw thie weekend through the middle of next week with temps getting above 30F above zero. Wooo Hooo! Break out the shorts and bikes I say.

I'm in the Dallas area and we've got a bit of that arctic air but it's not nearly as bad up north! Still, it's cold for us. It's in the 30's right now. Last night was our coldest night since last January, I think they said. At least it didn't snow or ice over. It seems like every time our temps dips this winter, we get a bit of that. As you can imagine, we Texans don't do well driving in ice! LOL

We had been in a warm stage the past few yeaqrs as far as wintertime temps etc. This has been the coldest in 5 years for us. We got used to it not being so cold and snowy. But, I for one, am glad we finally got the cold and snow we are known for actually. I can handle it fairly well. All excpet the severe winds when it gets this cold.

Brr... That does not sound like nice weather at all. As long as you dress warmly when you are taking these pictures for us, I am enjoying the ones you are sharing with us as well.

I live around Houston and it is in the 40's today. Everyday i see how cold it is up where you live. I do not know how you manage to stand the cold. I do not think that I could take the cold that you face up there. I like warm weather.

greetings. it looks like the heatwave is going to take you out of subzero temperatures. that's always good to hear! anyways, here in san jose, ca. it is about 54 degrees. i'm spoiled by the sun. when i was in chicago a few weeks back, it was like 10-30 degrees. i left just in time before the temperatures reached subzero. oh how i missed the warm sun!

It has been very sunny the past 3 days. But still artic air and temperatures with the high winds played havoc on us here in Minnesota. I have a sister in Sacremento so I know what it';s been like out that area. I'll take my cold winter months though. I love the snow and cold to a point.
