Long Long ago......... colgate company made a change in their design. The mouth of the tube was broadened so that everytime we squeeze a little extra comes out & we end buying the next tube sooner. All other toothpastes aped this design. I still think this idea is the biggest marketing masterstroke till date. Your take on this !!!!!!

Another marketing masterstroke is something that most of us take for granted. Now, don't laugh. I think it's the size of the straws at McDonalds. They are much bigger than other fast food restaurants, causing people to drink faster. If people finish their drinks faster, they are more apt to order another one. And while they're at the counter they order another food item, or dessert. Even if people don't order more food, by drinking fast you also tend to eat fast. That moves more people throught the restaurant (those who eat in) faster.

This is no laughing matter, Imn fact a very intelligent observation. I have also heard that a lot of thought also goes into their seating. Seats are specifically designed so that you dont feel comfortable when you recline on them. Another way to make sure that you leave the restaurant early. Thanks for the wonderful response

That's so true! Almost all fast food restaurants have uncomfortable seating. There is one famous restaurant that has that down to a science. They have no seating at all! They have counters set up where people can stand and eat their meals. Talk about fast table turns...! And, it's not a new chain, they've been around for years and years.

I worked at McDonald's when they changed the size of their straws to the larger size. They made no secret of it to the employees. It was fully their intent to make them larger so that people would drink faster and buy another drink. The soda has the biggest markup of any product that they sell (this is true for any restaurant, which is why a lot of places offer free refills - it just doesn't cost them that much), so they stand to increase their profits considerably by selling more soda. I often wondered how many people noticed the difference in the straw size... Good observation on your part! :)

Dear Hossain, I am no expert at sales. But can give a few humble tips: 1)I hope you have a website for your products. 2)Start small, You may consider stocking them at malls/artifact shops/gift shops for free & they can pay you only when they sell a product. 3) Become a member of ebay & try promoting through them.( you have gone global) 4) Contact event managers : Many hindu weddings there is a custom to give takeaways in fancy bags, Event organizers who plan weddings can promote this. 5) Contact purchase managers of all ecotel hotels & convince those jokers that your product will add authencity to their stupid Green Policy Claims I hope this is helpful.

Hi, Actually if we looks at the various corporate sectors they make such adjustments in their products and it needs a very keen observation to understand their marketing ideas. I tell u one more example of the cell phone companies, when u r out of range or when their is a network faliure and if some one is trying to get u on phone. U will get a message later that u have a missed call @ this and this time. Now the trick is u have to pay them additional charges to know which numbers have been calling u. SO if there is a technical problem from their end .. its going to cause U bucks. All these tricks are taught when u do Business adminstration courses. Cheers, Tutul

This is a strange world. How true ! we need to pay for their network failures. Never gave it that much thought, as i have been using company mobile since many years. Thank for brightening up the discussion.
