Would You Do This To Loose Weight?

Would you go through an unendurable pain of 300 stitches to remove 10lbs of your body weight, to be in shape? Unbelievable? Did you just cringe at the thought of the 300 stitches? Well, believe me here, I did. I just could not imagine subjecting myself and/or any of my love ones to undergo such an operation to reduce weight and get in shape. Isn't there any other better alternatives? This is extremely drastic to me. I am just jaw dropped amazed how this 52 year old actually could think of opting this procedure and subjecting herself to so much excruciating pain here. On top of it, it costs her £14,000. How about you? What is your take on this? Ref: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1120643/300-stitches-10lb-removed-unendurable-pain---How-woman-survived-body-lift.html

Actually, this woman had originally lost a really large amount of weight. The surgery was to lose the excess skin that remained after the weight loss. There were no exercises or dieting that could rid her of this extra skin. I can't imagine it. But I'm sure she just wanted to feel normal after all the weight loss.

rocketj1, As I had mentioned earlier, about the questionable after effects of some western medication and invasive procedures. I felt that the earlier treatments for the women were done too drastically which in turn had not allow her body to adjust in time. Had her weight reduction been done systematically and administered moderately I do not think she would ever have the need for this painful invasive procedure. Moderation seems to be very undermined and ignored in this world of medical sciences and I am just concerned about this lady's health years ahead. I just hope that there will not be any adverse effects (touch wood). Please do not take me to be the hardened and insensitive party. I am just skeptical and truly concerned. I really would like to be in touch with her and hear from her in months and years to come. Very concerned! Have a nice day and compliments of the season.

I am happy with my weight, but if I had the opportunity to do it I would defenitely pass! I've seen obese people who had undergo these kind of interventions, and came down to a suitable size. However, after some time you'll see them again devouring everything that meets their eyes. So I think it will be all in vain if someone does an operation like this just to take away some fat, since they would still be unable to control their own cravings and weight management!

vanilla_28, This is the very reason why I do not agree with western medication and treatment sometimes. It is simply curing seeming issue(s) without getting to the root of the problem. Just look at the slimming pills for example, it is a scary fact that not one of them does not possess side effects. Yet, we still have subscribers and users! I am wondering if the medical team that had performed and are still advocating this invasive procedure, is aware that there will be a need to address the crux of the problem which you have mentioned. Or, they are just waiting for them to come back to help fill up their coffers! Good point in bringing up your observations here. Have a nice day.

She did not just lose 10lbs for the 300 stitches. She had the bypass surgery and then had all this loose flabby skin she needed to get rid of so she had the surgery. I can see it. I have lost 100 lbs and have a lot of lose skin. I am not down to what I need to be but I have often thought of doing something like that because all the lose skin gets pinched in my clothing and also I get sweaty under it. I also looks horrible. It is somewhat needed in my book.

No, I definitely would not do that for just 10 lbs. I'll lose it on my own long before I would do that.

DarthJustice, I thought so too. I simply cannot imagine all that pain and sufferings that she is going through during her recovery. I am in opinion that she will be immunized to pain after this whole episode. Have a nice day here.
