Do your writing skew your reality meter?

Mostly I've only written in the fanfiction world, but I was in college, I did a lot of writing. I did so much writing that my reality meter got skewed with my fiction world. There were times when I would be in my reality, but my mind would be in my fictional reality. It was so weird at times when that would happen.
Although, there were times when I would love if my fictional reality was for real. It would be so cool, most of the time.

As a writer of both fiction and non fiction, I find that sometimes the lines can blur. Although, I am fortunate that for me that doesn't happen very often. I love getting caught up in my fictious world though. It just makes everything so surreal for me. While ficiton is not my reality, when I am working on a novel, I find I very much take on a role in my book and carry it through to the end. Even when editiing, I find myself in that role. It is a neat place to be.

It's fun to be another character. Even if this character is the total opposite of what you truly are, it's fun to do something that's so totally out of character for you. If you were writing about a super hero, wouldn't that make you want to go around helping people. You could be a hero in real life.
