We are geting a new computer very soon (as in any day now) I got this computer in August 2001. It was upgated, and updated and up everything so many times that I am sick and tired of it. It still works ok but this is going to be our games computer and let it age in peace :))))).
How often do you update your computer? How often do you buy a new one? Do you get cutom made one for your needs or one of the shelf?

I just fixed myself a new one in mid 2008, well ok, with some old parts put back in like the casing & a DVD-ROM
I'm a system integrator so I don't buy off the shelf as it's much more expensive; whereas one can have more options if it's custom made. Normally I'll assemble a good one, and like you - upgrade till all you can then if it's really fizzling out the technology, then it's time to get a new one
That too will normally be at least 5 years & above

Well we want to get a costum made in the store not do it ourself and then we have 5 years warantee on it which is great because everything is covered (apart from software but then again I always got un upgrade when I took mine for service) it is more expencive that way because verything is latest and brand new but I dont mind paying for what I need.

We could do it cheaper if we use secand hand parts or have it build by someone but this is not the safest and best option for us and we want a brand new computer

I bought my computer bk in 2004 & I upgraded in between somewhere in 2006 or 2007, after that dint go for any upgradation. I used to play games earlier, but now have limited so dint have the pinch of making an upgradation any time sooner. I am limiting my expense too that way. As of now my computer is working well so I am not thinking of any upgradations in the near future.

I am using my PC from last 3 years and till now I haven't upgraded its hardware.
