Do you use your knifeblock?

I was wondering if any of you actually use your knifeblock. I have bought two knife sets in the past that were those ones that were like $15 for about twenty knives and always end up with knifeblock up in the cabinets and the knives in my drawers. When we came to New Mexico I did not bring any so I went and bought me a Faberware knife set and was thinking the other day that at home I always end up just putting them in the drawers with all the oter stuff but my knife set that I just got I wash my knives and unlike the rest of my dishes I hand dry them and put them straight back into my knifeblock that come with them. It is easy to do because there are only 4 knives and a pair of shears but I want to keep them in the block. So, do you keep your knives in the block or do you just end up with them in your drawer and put the knifeblock up?

i'm a bit fanatical about my knives. i always always keep them in their block or for my special knives, in their case that they come with. it helps to keep them sharp and also free to from snags/scratches from other knives in the drawers. everyone makes fun of me, but i have the sharpest knives around and no one messes with them. i spent good money building up a knife collection and i dont want to ruin it.

This is why I keep my Faberware set in the knife block. They are not cheap knives and are really good ones. So I would prefer to keep them in the block. Thanks for the response.

Our family tries to stick to putting it in the block but when cleaning dishes and putting them up you just get in a hurry sometimes and gradually we put them in a drawer. WE just bought a new knife set a week ago. We will see how long it stays in the block. LOL!

we have two knife blocks for two sets of knives, but while i still use them, i find the blocks suck up a lot of counter space. i would hate to put them in my drawers though, for fear of cutting my fingers.

I have a knifeblock for my knives. But after using and washing my knives, I would make sure the knives are dry before putting the knives back on the block because I do not want the kniveblock to get mouldy because of dampness.

I always put mine back in the block - I'm actually pretty anal about stuff like that. We also have a Faberware set that has 8 steak knives and about 6 assorted ones, a pair of shears, a sharpener and a few things that I actually don't know what they are! My sister has the same set and she always puts the knives in just wherever, not in their actual spots, it drives me crazy. I'm not normally super neat and tidy but stuff like that really bugs me for some reason!

I always keep the knives in their knife block because my children can both reach my drawers and they like to play with the cuttlery. Before I had children, most of my knives would end up in the drawer like you, I just found that it was more convinient that way. Now it's a little different.

Through the years, I have always had a tendency to use my knifeblocks. I have two that I have owned my whole adult life. It seems to be really convenient. Plus I think it is pretty safe, because you don't have to worry as much about getting cut when you are reaching for a knife. I also keep my knives separate when I am washing the dishes. I guess my mom ingrained this into my brain when I was a teenager (or younger) washing dishes. I think I still do the dishes exactly like she taught me when I am washing them by hand. LOL

I have a set of knives in a knife block and I also have some other knives that are not in a knife block but in their own drawer in the kitchen. The knife block is nice to have, but sometimes it gets in the way on the counter.

I used to do the same thing! I'd end up with a near empty knife block sitting on the counter! Now I try to make it a point to put those knives back in there. It looks a lot nicer than just having the really big knife and sharpener in there!
