What are we going to do with Gitmo prisoners when Gitmo is shut down?

I really hope they're not going to be mixed in with U.S. prisoners over here. They will be busy indoctrinating U.S. prisoners, which is something that I think will make things much worse for us. And aren't these prisoners getting special treatment, special diet in accord with their religion, ect.? This is going to be a nightmare and a headache for our justice department, for starters.

I think they should be tried and either jailed or set free. They've languished there for so long, they've had a chance to make plans, build up their hatred of us or possibly be convinced that we're not so bad. Those that are jailed should be incarcerated in Britain, maybe, or Canada if either will take them, or even here in a small isolated facility with them as the only residents.

They are already housed in a small, isolated facility. A facility, I might add, where the International Red Cross has a permanent presence.
It's a farce! What the left is demanded here as "the right thing to do" has never been the standard in any war, ever. The Geneva Convention doesn't even offer declared POWs as many rights and luxuries as the left is demanding.
It's propaganda, plain and simple. The US left is the best propaganda machine Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other anti western terrorists have.

I totally agree with your last sentence but would qualify it as the "extreme" left.
I was unaware of the Red Cross. They would keep things sane, yes? I do think that criminals deserve to be charged and tried but then, I've never been in a war and have no idea what is practical and what's not.

Why? Bring them to the US, of coourse! They are US prisoners, are they not? Why should another nation bear the burden?

Apparently Prs. Obama doesn't even know what to do with them. That's why he has given the military a year to come up with an idea.
He's clueless.

I agree it's going to be a nightmare as they were saying on the news they would have "American rights" to things like due process ect. The problem they were saying is that the countries these folks are from don't want them back. Perhaps the UN would be able to step in on this? Not that Bush waited for the UN's approval to go into many of the middle eastern countries we are currently stationed at in the first place.

I read an article (sorry can't remember the source), but it said that the prisoners would be removed from "gitmo", and placed in u.s. military prisons here in the states.
