I can't wait for Tuesday! We're having our new High Effeciency washer and dryer delivered. We're really trying to do things that will save on our electricity usage and I think this might be one of the last appliances we need to upgrade. My husband always cringed when he would be outside near the meter when I was doing laundry. Just watching that usage meter spin around made him dizzy. I'm kinda anxious to see what impact it has on our electricity bill :)

I hope you can save a lot on your energy bill with the new appliances. Are you saving much with the new heater? With all the new stuff you guys have bought to save money on your power bill you will have more money to go to Atlantic City with. yayayayayayaya

It should make quite a bit of difference as we have a low energy washer dryer and you only ise the water you need,it will wash at lower temperatures ,has a button to press called time saver so it cuts out some of the washing time, ours is two years old so I expect the latest model will have even more features,We have a double American style fridge freezer that is frost free and efficient, a fan oven which is really quick ,an iron that turns it self off if you answer the door or the phone goes, our sky box turns its self off when not in use and a phone that uses no standby and of course the old lightbulbs not as bright but we are getting used to them.Use carpet sweeper instead of hoover, only hoover through top and bottom once a week. All this effort goes to saving money and the planet to boot.x

We started using the light bulbs a couple years ago. I don't like that it takes a bit for them to come on, but once you get used to that it's pretty cool. We put in a new HVAC unit - replaced the ancient one. I'm trying to do as much as possible to keep the usage down - and yes, for saving money as well as saving the planet!

Oh, sorry, it stands for Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning. It does it all. Our old one actually stopped working and we HAD to replace it. So it was a great opportunity to go energy efficient.

I'm very excited - as you can see! We should see a decrease in the utility bill, but not as much as we spent - not all at once anyways, over years we will.
