Do you think that there is a proper starting age for children to start eating candy? I know that I had my reservations on giving my son candy until he was about four for fear that he could choke or have some kind of accident.

I admit to giving my kids candy at an early age. Not hard candy really, but other sugary treats. I keep hard candy at a minimum even for my 9 year old because he chews it rather than sucks on it. My daughter who is 2 gets the occasional sucker, but that is the extent of her hard candy.

I think my son was about 3 or 4 when I let him eat candy like you I was afraid he would sallow it and choke on it.

All the kids in my family have ate candy from a young age except for the hard candy like the peppermint, butterscotch and cinnamon disk, they can eat all the chocolate and softer candies easily without choking from about 1-2 years on.

Hard candy i try and avoid and my girls are almost 5 and almost 3 years old, chocolate they have had that since they were one at least a little bit now and again doesnt harm after all there is no such thing as a bad food merely a bad diet! As for fear of choking yes while they were little not so much now to be fair they could choke on anything!
