So I am a huge Steeler's fan. I was watching the news today and they have re made the ultimate Mean Joe Green commercial. The one where he takes the coke from the little boy and then throws his jersey at him. They re did it using Troy Polamolu!! I cannot wait for this commercial to come out! They are airing it for the superbowl.
What did you think of the original Joe Green commercial?
Do you think Troy Polamolu was the right pick for the new one?

I have seen the original commercial they have aired it many times during the "top commercials" shows of all time etc...
I dont know if it will be something that can be remade and be as good, or if people will just look at it and remember the first one. I guess we will know more during the game and they air the commerical and talk about it after the game...LOL

I used to be really big into football but the last few years I've gotten totally out of the loop. Probably for lack of anyone to share it with..... But the point of the original commercial was "Mean" Joe Green did something super nice for the kid after taking away his Coke. I don't think re-making it with anyone else, regardless of who they choose to cast.

I am not familiar with Troy. I guess I wouldn't have a problem with it if i was from Pittsburg or a fan of the team. But, as an outsider, the commercial won't mean much. I'm under the belief though that you can't remake a "classic" and have it be as good as the original. The original with Mean Joe Green was a classic because he was so big and bad on the field. To see him let down his guard in the commercial was priceless. So, I really think they should come up with something new and leave the classsic commercial alone.
