Do you ever unplug your phone?

I was just wondering if I am the only one that does this. Do you ever unplug your phone? I do from time to time. And I set my cell phone to only except calls from callers in my contact list. The others will go straight to my voice mail.
I know it probably seems rude. But sometimes I just don't want to hear it ring. And if someone I know wants to get ahold of me, they know to call my cell phone if it is important. Otherwise, they will just leave a message on my voice mail.
Do you ever feel like getting away from the world? What things do you do that others may think is rude, but for you it is just taking a break?

I don't unplug it, I just look at the caller ID to decide if I am going to answer or not. I used to not unplug it, but take it off the hook when people would continue to call late at night, especially when they knew I was trying to sleep for work early the next morning.

That's one thing great about the phones that have an on and off button on them. I don't know if they still make those nowadays since most phones are cordless. But if you were trying to sleep, you could just turn the ringer off and still see who had called on the caller id.
Thanks for your response in this discussion. I hope you have a good evening!
