that when they portray drunks on tv they show them hiccuping? i have drank and been around drunks and never seen anyone hiccuping.. is it like when you drink only certain things or is it just another one of those things that we always see/hear/are told but dont make sense but assume are true?

I have to say that is something I have never thought about. Maybe some drunks do hiccup maybe that is where the stereotype comes from. I dont think I have ever seen any drunks hiccuping but on the other hand I havent probably been around that many drunk people and I dont think I've been totally drunk myself more than a few times so i dont really know.

well replier number 1 has seen it so maybe it does happen but is rare and well the right people had it when writing these things so it became a popular symptom acting wise
