Support your local vegetable growers or grow your own vegetables, tomatoes and more. By supporting local growers we cut down on our global footprint. The miles that imported food has to travel in order to get into our stores is incredible as is the amount of fuel it takes to get it there. Support local business and shop closer to home to help reduce our global footprint. Because of where I live, and my limited resources, I don't grow anything. But I have an aunt that lives out in the country. She grows her own zucchini, squash, tomatoes, green beans, and lettuce. She has to be dedicated to taking care of it because when she uses her home grown ingredients, they taste so incredibly fresh. I would love to buy more from the Farmer's Market.

It does sound like a good idea... but... You don't know where the vegetables from your local grocer comes from. Every morning... he goes to the market at 5AM to get a truck load of fresh vegetables and fruits. He buys according to the quality and the price... not to where they come from. As for growing your own vegetables... Most people don't have a garden to do so. Most people don't have the time to do so. And unless you like gardening as a hobby... there is very little motivation to do so. It is hard work for very little savings. The only benefit is that your own vegetables will taste better than those from the shop.
