Should Colleges be like Schools?

Things ahve been tedious at my uty, as our priciple tried to bring order upon us by converting it practically into a school. No cutting classes - and having 80% attendance every month i.e. can cut a maximum of 3 days as everyday has 7 hours. He has also increased the portions for each series exams to half the syllabus, submitting huge assignments every week, and being asked questions in class like they used to in junior school.
DO you think converting a college practically into a school is a good thing or a bad thing?
