Am I the only one who thinks Ellen can sing?

On Monday Ellen sang a duet with Josh Grobin. I missed it yesterday but she replayed a little of it today, and then I caught the whole thing on her website. Today she was putting herself down badly about her singing, as she always does. I don't know why; I think she sings great. I am going to be watching that video over and over again (because I like Josh too). She sang with John Mayer yesterday later in the show and she has sung with other singers in the past. What do you think? Is it just because I love Ellen or do you think she can really sing? No, she's no Josh Grobin or John Mayer, but she can hold her own and I think she doesn't give herself enough credit. You can check out the video on ellentv.com. I want to hear what others think.

Thanks for sharing the link. I thought she did a GREAT job in singing that song with Josh Grobin. I'm going to check out the song with John Mayer. :)

And John Mayer is pretty hot! What I wouldn't give to have been in Ellen's place singing with him! But I think Ellen did better than I would have.

Hey pat! I happen to agree with you! I think that Ellen can sing very well too! I think she has a very nice singing voice and she definitely holds her own with whomever she sings with which is not an easy thing considering she sings with some pretty good singers! I happen to be a big Ellen fan! I love her! I think she is intelligent, funny and a wonderful entertainer! She can sing and dance too!

I had to look that up on YouTube. I just realized it was 4 months ago and her hair was different. But she's pretty good! Not the best song for Josh Groban, but that was pretty cool.

Yeah, I like her with the longer hair rather than the short-short cut she has now.

well, haven't heard her sing, but I can say that her comedy is partially in the putting herself down - not as much as Rodney Dangerfield, but still putting herself down.

Ellen does sound pretty good. Ellen is crazy though. Her show makes my day. I love it when they dance. I also like the bathroom concerts, lol.

I have always thought she could sing and hold her own. I don't know what it is that makes her think she can't sing. I have to say though if she didn't think she was good enough would she sing with these other singers. I think she might just be a humble person and does not want to put it out there that she can sing.

She also says she can't dance but she did a whole dance routine with the So You Think You Can Dance dancers. Did you see that? I saved the video to my computer so I can watch it whenever I want.

Yes I saw that routine and she was really good. I just think she is one of those people who can do it all. She's even good in all the sport things that she does on her show. From throwing a ball to golf.

Well, if you've ever been forced to attend a karaoke bar, you know Ellen can sing fairly well. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that she sings better than some "professional" singers, especially in the jazz genre.

I know, like I just said to Maddysmom, I would kill to be in that position with Ellen but I think she did a better job than I would probably do. She really underestimates herself. On one episode she had a special microphone that she used to do a Cher impression. She thought she tanked at that but I thought it was pretty good... not great, but good.
