What do you know about artificial joints. It's my understanding that they ahav come a long way. Anytime we have a war there are great strides made in the field. Do you think you will need one in your life time?

WWW.edheads.com is a game site that has a couple of replacement surgeries that shows what goes into the surgeries. There are other educational stuff there but that part applies to what you asked. I don't know a whole lot more about it other then the never should have done both of my grandmother's knees at the same time... she was a little weird for months after. She still has to have tons of extra help as much for her mental health as her physical.

Often there are reactions to the anesthesia which they don't tell you about before hand, this may be some of her problems. Also both knees at once doesn't sound to good to me, do you know why they did that? Maybe they didn't want to put her under twice?

They didn't want her laid up twice I think. And no, they didn't really inform her caregivers as well as they should. No one was aware of how much all of our lives would be changed and not so much for the better. Grandma is in her mid 70's I think. I'm sure that didn't help.

There has been great advancement made in the field of artificial joints. Those in the hip and knee regions i suppose are the most common one's. It has brought a lot of benefit to those suffering from forms of arthirits and those who have had thier joints damaged in accidents or war. No one likes or wishes to go through a joint replacement in thier life and i for one hope that i do not have to go through one.

Hey pat! It is great that the medical field has made such strides with artificial joints and limbs. Unfortunately for me I already need a knee replacement according to my Orthopedist and I am not too happy about it! I am not sure that I want to have that surgery or not. It is a very long recovery and rehabilitation process and I'm just not sure that I want to do it.

I have a friend who went into knee replacement and thought she was going to have a complete one but when they got in there they found much less damage so it was a bad recovery time after all. Maybe you'll get lucky also. Blessing

I am not sure that I can answer the question correctly but I have seen people with them. I feel bad for whatever struggle or challenge they have to endure but I know that these people seem to be pretty brave. They might have some obstacles but have overcome the challenges and can do a lot of things that able bodies people can do. I hope that I won't need one in my life time but if I do I hope that an artificial joint will be made available. Modern technology has really comes a long way in the past years.

hello savypat who knows what that one will need before one passes away from this world that we live in. you know what i mean? from an artificial joint to a lost limb to missing a few fingers or even toes? who's know's? nobody really knows in my opinion what the future will hold for us except for God. but there is all different kinds of things that could go wrong with our bodies naturally less having something go wrong otherwise like having to have an artificial joint. and i hope that i never have to have anything happen or to be wrong with my body at anytime, there is nothing like feeling good for the day. take care and have a beautiful evening.
