I went nuts today and did some spring cleaning!

The weather has been sunny, no snow, and even a few days in the high 40's and low 50's. It just felt so good I got energized and spent a lot of time today washing. I did my sheets, as usual, but also did the blanket and the bedspread. 3 loads! My bed is clean all over but Cookie is upset because the small lap blanket I have on the foot of the bed for her didn't quite get dry and it's hanging in the basement. She'll not miss it tonight when she snuggles under the covers with me!
I also did a thorough cleaning of the kitchen, something I usually don't like to do. Having a totally clean bed and kitchen makes me feel as if my whole house is sparkling!
Have you gotten the spring cleaning bug yet? Or do you wait till it begins to get warmer? I just wish I had a clothes line out back for the bedding!

That's a wonderful idea, lilaclady! I'd like to get a myLot crew in there to do the heavy cleaning, like the dusty baseboards and vacuuming the stairs.

I feel the same way! Once I'm in front of the computer, that's it! Why clean, anyway? It'll just get dirty all over again! EVERY time!

Now that is pretty funny. I can see where myLot can become addictive. Once you go on line and go to myLot you pretty much can get very caught up in it and forget about the duties at hand.
I try to get some things done around the house before I start to venture into this site. I do have a certain routine that I like to keep with.

I just get into cleaning moods period. It doesn't really have to be warm weather for me to want to clean. If I see a lot of stuff and I'm just getting really tired of it, I'll get kicked into spring cleaning mode and then it's time to clean. I'll clean as much as I can, to make everything look so much better and then after while it'll happen all over again.

I wish I could be like that. I'm rarely in the mood to clean but I almost went out to the garage today to sweep it out-stopped myself just in time! It was 30 degrees, much too chilly to be out but at least the activity would have kept me warm. I'd like to know the secret to getting in a cleaning mood!

I get into cleaning moods also. I think the one thing that I really procrastinate about is my bathrooms. Especially the tub area. I usually do other things in the house like clean up on a regular basis because I like my home to look half decent in case I have some company from time to time.
I can see where getting tired of looking at a mess can spring up motivating to want to clean.

I do it at anytime, when things get to much for me it is cleaned out. I go thru everything in that room thou. I do prefer waiting for the nicer weather. You are so lucky to have that right now. Here it is still in the 20's with snow. I love being able to open the windows and then letting loose with music going!! For now I'm just to blah about this weather to get the energy up to do more then 1 room at a time.

I've really got to clean the tops of my windows and all those spaces that collect dust that are out of view. That's a hard chore! I need to throw out some junk, too. I hope I'm motivated when the weather warms up!

I had that going on last week. We had some pretty good weather and I think the anticipation of Spring overcome me! I got all of my cabinets in my kitchen cleaned and my oven and refrigerator. Now it is cold again this week and snow headed at us again so I'm over that cleaning thing!
I love Spring cleaning (well at least the results I love!) It just kind of regnerates you. I'll have my chance again soon. This cold weather can't last forever....can it? LOL

Yes, I know what you mean about the weather being a little unpredictable. I am not getting snow much where I live but sometimes we can have spring like temperatures during the winter and then maybe a cold day here and there.
I live in Alabama right now.
I like to clean but I don't feel much motivation to clean the oven or fridge. Those are definitely things I can wait on. Not to mention some other things that I put on the back burner.

I can see your point here. But anytime a big surge of cleaning happens in the house I guess it is depicted as "Spring"cleaning
There is just a fresher feel around me when I start cleaning things up and things look a little brighter. Just like Spring!

omg, I don't even want to think about taxes! I just paid off what I owed for 2007 and now have to start paying 2008 while saving to pay 2009. It's awful.

Just yesterday we cleaned out the pantry and a couple of drawers in the kitchen and re-organized them. It is amazing what gets pushed to the back of the pantry/drawers and is forgotten about. I hate forgetting about food items and they go out of date, it seems like such a waste. My husband is laid off right now so we are trying to get something done each day towards cleaning and organizing the house. Trying to take advantage of the time off and turn a negative situation into a positive one. It does feel good when things are cleaned up and organized, it is a sense of accomplishment.

I admire you for completing such a daunting task! I cleaned my junk drawers a few months ago and guess what? Yep, they're a wreck!! It's sunny today and I once again feel like cleaning and organizing. I'm going to tackle my cupboards!! Wish me luck and if you don't see me around for a few days, I'm buried under mounds of useless junk!

Oddly, this is the second response I've written about spring cleaning just this evening. I guess everyone apart from me must have the Spring cleaning bug!
I have no urge to Spring clean at all! Ever!
However, the weather has just brightened up and it's possible to imagine Spring is in the air here. I've certainly felt more lively since it's got brighter, and I'm working my way through my to-do list a little faster.

I always feel more energized when the weather begins to warm and we get a lot of sunshine! It's rare for me to want to clean, I have to take full advantage of it when the mood hits me!

Sounds like you had a busy day. Sometimes just a little change in the weather can make you feel energized to do some things around the house. I know that when the air feels better and the sun is out I feel a little better about cleaning up the house.
I think that I will have the spring cleaning bug soon. I usually like to clean anyway. It makes me feel more productive.

I usually don't enjoy cleaning but I certainly love the results! I have to be in the mood and it's rare for me. Tomorrow we're supposed to have thunderstorms and those always make me feel great and energetic--I might get more cleaning done then!

That is so cute when I read about Cookies blanket at the foot of the bed. Mija (my cat) has a couple of blankets that I put in her little house when she goes to take naps.

Ha! Would that I could travel to your end of the country right now, where it's warm and sunny! Mija is lucky to have a little house. I've been thinking of getting something like that for my dogs to use inside--Gus likes to get in his basket and pull the blankets over his head and Cookie sleeps under the covers with me so I think they'd enjoy a little house.

That may be a good idea. I think it helps to give them some privacy. I've never heard of a little house for dogs though. Let me know if they have them.
Mija's little house is so cute! It sits atop her scratching post. I bought it online and it came as one unit. It was fun putting it together for her too!

Here the weather is still around 10 F so spring cleaning is not in my thoughts yet. But it won't be long! But I like cleaning so do it all the time, well almost all the time.

I don't mind the temperature, it's the sunshine that motivates me the most. A gloomy day makes me want to burrow down and not do anything but when the sun is shining, like today (it's 23 degrees right now) I like to put my house in order! You like to clean? You're a rare, rare man!

HI. Oh yes where I live, its winter time and it was so nice the one day last week in the upper 50's. I went out on my deck, cooked on the grill. I enjoyed it so much. After staying in the house for so long it felt good to get out and not have to wear hats and gloves. I would say the nice sunny weather gives us energy after, it does for me, I cannot wait until spring time.

I'm really looking forward to spring, especially since I'm planning a vegetable garden this year! Since my shed got blown into the house by the wind-I was going to move it anyway-I can see where I will put the garden and I can hardly wait till I can start my seedlings!

Yeah, spring is now felt here too. Its getting warmer now. But all these cleaning matters have never been my stuff. These are of my bitter (oops better) half's job. She is a good hand at this business. I am forced to the market or on my bike to paint the city red.

Yes, women can be better at cleaning but I've seen some men that can really amaze you with how well and how fast they can clean up a house! I could use one of those now.
