What happened to pushing the special interest groups out?

On the campaign trail you heard from Obama that he was going to push lobbyist and special interest groups out of washington and our government. This was something I actually liked about Obama. But so far I am not seeing any signs of it happening. Infact he has appointed people with strong lobbyist ties to his cabinet. THen you take the fiscal responsibility summit (it surprises me lightening has not struck that building yet), invited to this event (by Obama)are a who's who list of special interest groups. 56 "community leaders and stakeholders" shows that no less than seven union chiefs, 10 organizations advancing racial and ethnic concerns, 10 progressive think tanks and advocacy groups, three universities, three health care associations and at least six interests groups for women, seniors, disabled and gay rights groups were in attendance.Six conservative think tanks and advocacy groups, two health policy organizations and four business associations along with one law firm specializing in Wall Street mergers, one retirement and financial services fund. Looks like the special interest groups get to decide what "fiscal responsibility" is instead of us the tax payers. This is exactly why we need them out of washington. They have too much influence over our countries policies and actions. Instead of being for the people and by the people we are governed for the special interest groups, by the special interest groups. What do you think of Obama and his failed promise on lobbyist and special interest groups? What is your take on what should be done about it?

"governed for the special interest groups, by the special interest groups" - amen Lilwonders, that about says it.. I never for a moment believed what Prez Obama said about doing away with, or even at the minimum, not being swayed by special interest groups. This very thing is destroying democracy.. (gonna wipe it out and replace it with socialism, thanks bankers and lobbyists, and corporate criminals!)

I think worse, as gov has just morphed into being much bigger, stronger and in control of more.. I'm havin' visions of us eventually having to have lobbyists to get healthcare.. gettin' way noided..

Fellow Americans - if elected, I promise to bring my friends to Washington, pay off Acorn for the votes and send millions of dollars to everybody's pet projects. I also promise you won't have to pay for your houses, there will be no more war and we will have ice cream with every meal! Would you vote for me??
