It's not gluten it's casein (milk protein)

Did a food sensitivity test (not to be confused with a food allergy test) and it turns out that I have no sensitivity to wheat whatsoever. I'm not lactose intolerant either. Whey and casein are a problem. So, for now, bye bye cheese and butter and milk and most breads. Dawn is mad at the world. It's not only the milk products either. I can only have iceberg and romaine lettuce once every four days. Yes, that's right, lettuce! My immune system has a mild reaction to it. It's going to be an interesting 3 - 6 months, but if it clears up my psoriasis it will be worth it. Anybody here ever hear of anything like this?

sounds like the food rotation diet - and I've been on one, more or less, for 25 years

I don't know what to say. I am so sorry friend. Not even lettuce. I do hope that it works out o.k., for you. My sister once had the same skin complaint but hers was stress related. I've never heard of naything like this. I am allergic to sea food of nay form. One little bite is all it takes for me to enbd up in hospital. I cannot even think of anything to cheer you. I can only do what I do best and that is to pray for you. God Bless

The lettuce is on the once every four day list, so I can deal with that. But I am going to miss cheese!

It's a drag to be allergic or sensitive to anything and I am glad that I have a strong constitution. I can take any food I want. cheers!!

I'm not exactly allergic or I wouldn't be able to eat those things at all, ever.

I'm sorry to hear about the test (even if it's good that it's not gluten). On the positive side I've heard that people with psoriasis that stopp eating casein often get better! That goes for a lot of diagnoses BTW. The latest news are that soy protein are very much alike casein so here the advise for people (at least children)with allergy for casein is to stay away from soy products as well. The reactions to lettuce might go away if you stop the intake of casein. You could bake your own bread :D - I've cooked and baked a lot with out milk and it's not that hard - even if there are things that I can't get the right taste in.

I think I'd rather it was gluten. I love my cheese. But it's only temporary...

Oh Dawn I feel for you. I do not know if I could give up my cheeses. I can give up junk food, which I was highly addicted to, but never my cheese. I have a food allergy to cottenseed oil and I find now that I rarely eat processed foods it is not an issue. But in general even when I ate the junk, I would only get a physical reaction after I ingested a certain amount. So for me it was the cumulative effect. So maybe after your problem is corrected, you just monitor the amount you consume to avoid a flare up.

I can't see giving up cheese permanently. I can manage it for a while though. After that, I can live with having it every 4 days or so. But I do love my cheese!
