http://www.wyff4.com/money/18702027/detail.html#- Do you buy a hooded sweatshirts with a tie string for your child??? If so, you may want to read this & see the dangers lurking around your home. If it can happen to a small child, it could possibly happen to an older child also. You may want to rethink having a drawstring on your child's clothes!!! After reading, tell me what you think???

Why wlould a parent put something like on a child in the first place, brainless wonder i guess. For the life of me why they sell, clothes like for any body, most of a child. you would think that parens would stop and think before they buy clothes for there kids.Long as it looks good thats all that counts. That made me so mad when i read that.

Some parents just don't think...some just don't care. Don't you think this mom has blamed herself a thousand times as to how he would still be here if only she hadn't...

I thought about that when my boys were little and they didn't have drawstrings on their clothing. My mind was such that I would look at anything they wore or played with and figure out how it could hurt them or put them in danger. Yes, I was over protective! So long before they came out with warnings on stuff I had usually thought of it!

You were a well prepared Mom...I find it sad that a child has to die before an adult thinks of protecting them. The company shouldn't have been selling the stringed hoodie for starters. Since they were, the parent shouldn't have bought it. If the child just had to have that hoodie, the string could have been replaced once bought & brought home. Just removing the string defeats the purpose of buying a warm coverup.

Oh my!! That is horrible!! I am surprised that they would even think of putting drawstrings on the necks of anything with a kid. All the stuff that my daughter has is all velcro and snaps, or elastic. I will pass this on and ask everyone to do so. Thanks for passing this on.

Thank you. Yes, I think parents need to be reminded of the dangers of drawstrings!!! It's something that is there when we buy the product & we don't even consider the danger. You're one smart mom!!! I used to replace all the drawstrings with elastic fastened with velcro. Then I had her practice how to get the velco undone real quick. Her grandmother thought I was crazy (couldn't argue), but I knew I was keeping her safe!!!

Hi LadyMarissa, I think that is awful, I haven't any children or grand children and I wouldn't the kids wearing those hoodies with drawstrings, you would think the manufacturer would have thought of that before selling for young children to wear. Tamara
