Let's set an Agenda

From time to time someone comes up with the idea of a myLot meet up. A convention if you like. We all think that it is a great idea, but it would be fraught with problems, not least the cost of getting to wherever the meting would take place. But let's pretend that we've got over all that. Now we need to set an Agenda. What should we put on it? I don't think apologies would be appropriate. We might spend the whole time saying that A - ZZZZ is sorry that they are unable to be there. How about "Let's introduce ourselves?" What else should we have on the list. As lists are expressly against the rules, please limit yourself to ideas in sentences!

Hee, I was thinking that all the tequila shots James had lined up for us, I would need to be sitting at the bar due to being unable to stand. But thruthfully, I'd probably just want to be whereever Mo was, laughing my butt off. Feel free to keep an eye on me though, I like that.

I think that first and foremost, we have to be very specific about the dress code. We can't have all these Texans turning up with no pants! We also have to consider the catering and I think that for such a momentous occasion, there should definitely be a lot of items with sprinkles! Oh and every person that walks through the door has to have a tequila shot! (What we won't tell people is that there are actually 10 doors they have to walk through before entering the party hall!) That about covers it from my end for now......

They're not easy to shoot at all at first! But once you bag a couple, they tend to go down far more easily. I may just join you on the tie front actually. The panda's may be an issue though. Quarantine laws yes? Can we hold this thing in China?

Name tags should have our user names on them.
Everyone should wear a t-shirt with their avatar on it.
These two things alone will keep everyone in OMG's, that's you convos and meet and greets that would keep us all busy and laughing for days on end...........

Yeah me would have a mylot AA meeting..lol I think it would be great if we had t-shirts that had our mylot Name on it and maybe our avatar. So others would know us better and would feel more at ease of meeting us if they felt they knew us some.We all have so many different interest that it would be hard to decide on where to go or what to do. But it would be nice to be at a place that will let us talk, or whatever we decide,..maybe dancing, swimming for those that want to...even a casino for those that have the taste for it. I know I am silly but I just would be so excited about meeting others I would forget about the other stuff..

Are lists against the rules? I didn't know that. Anyway, I reckon we should discuss the things we won't discuss....like Politics and Religion for a start. I'm sure there are other topics we should not discuss. I really can't imagine a get together but you have done it so it is a bit easier for you to have some idea. I have no idea what I would talk about with even 1 person.

this sounds great.away with the agendas and all that crap.i think we need a stage and each member needs to get up and mime who they are, while the rest of us are having a few sherberts,we have to guess who you are and most likely having a ball trying to work out it out.cheers sue

I think we should have a potluck and a cookie exchange. How about a drinking game, too? That's a good way to break the ice!

Well let's see. It doesn't cost anything to come to Sacramento, so let's have it here. (yeah right)
Introductions, dinner, drinks? :-)

By expressing our thoughts we are introducing ourselvs. In a discussion we can judge a person's mentality and weight. In a discussion or a comment we get a picture of the concerned person. Is there any reason to set an agenda for ourselves?

You know, it's very doable with the right planning lol. It's like the yearly pagan conventions that occur. I've seen some done inside, and others done at camp grounds but both have some things in common:
Check-In's (Name tags with user names is a great idea).Pre-set rooms (When I was involved with a business that regularly had trainings throughout the year they would block book hotel rooms to get a good price. You can do this so that everyone has a room to purchase, and if you use a hotel you can book the banquet rooms for conferences, etc).Various workshops, talks, etc. With Mylot you could have various activities set up at one time throughout the day with group gatherings such as large dinners etc together with entertainment. For example: Morning: Games,How to's of Internet, Crafting. Group Lunch. Afternoon: Activity One,Lecture/Workshop (etc),Free-Time.Group Dinner w/ Entertainment.
It really depends upon what you'd want the tone of such a gathering to be. Even large family reunions at times have schedules/lists set up so that people can divide for a time by age, gender, etc. It's not uncommon. It is though as you said complicated as you have to really have one person in charge of everything, with a small group that person delegates authority to in order to pull something like this off.
Anyhow, that's my two cents worth lol. Anora

I have organized conventions in the past - not myLot ones, but for my employer. Provided that you have the conference content, the venue and the attendees right, everything else is relatively straightforward. The money is vital though. I have met myLotters and we did discuss doing something in the south west of England last year. Unfortunately it didn't happen. The main problem with myLot is that there is no obvious central place, many couldn't afford to get there, or are stopped for other reasons, infirmity for example. But I never say never.

Perhaps an international one isn't feesible, but maybe people could have local ones? Though, I still plan to get across the pond one of these days as my uncle lives over there.

I think we should. It would be fun. We could have games and discussions face to face. Maybe a dance. It is a good idea. I suppose now I have to get that Passport. We could agree in our own countries where we were going to meet and call people from the other contries to celebrate or instal a huge web cam at each gathering so we could all be together.
So when is this meeting of the MyLot minds.

How about 'It would be lovely to meet you, even if on the phone for now?'-that may be a little more than one sentence but still means the same thing! hugs LoLo

Hi p1key,
As you know I am very short so I may have to wear a pair of stilts so I can be noticed and to introduce myself to everyone and wear a badge with my avatar on it.That should be a laugh. Hugs.
