I just joined this panel group where you scan all your household purchases and you rack up points for sending in the info each week and doing surveys. You can cash in your points for gifts...and they seem really nice ones too. I thought it was going to be difficult, but I think once I get a pattern down with it it will be easy as cake.
So who particpates with this consumer panel group? ANd how long have you been with them? Overall experiences?

That's funny! Mine just came in the mail today. I need to figure out how to install, hook it up and use it now.
I am glad to know someone else who is doing it. Was it hard to install and all that?
I had second thoughts about it the minute I signed up to do it. I was prepared to send it back without even trying it. Now I think I will give it a chance. I wonder how long it takes to qualify for a nice gift.
I have been on the other Nielsen panel for a long time. I am also on a bunch of others.
I like MySurvey the best because I have gotten on the list to do this one month long survey that pays 10 bucks. It comes up every 3 months.

They seem to have lots of surveys offered too. The lowest they pay is 10 points for taking a qualifying survey and not qualifying to take the rest. When you do qualify for the rest, they pay well. Each survey you qualify for pays at least a dollar.
Did you download the MySurvey Messenger? I think if you do, you get more surveys. Also, it flashes when you have an available survey.

I had downloaded it but had to replace my comp...so I might have to do it again. I've been with mysurvey for quite awhile and love them. And what I really like is if you have an issue and you contact them they get right on it.
Oh and I've been doing their mail surveys for awhile also. I do a "expense" record every three months and the payments are really small, like a $1 to $5. But I love them.
Have you done any product reviews for them yet? I've done several already.

I'm on mysurvey too, but I must not have qualified for that one. But they are great.
Yeah it's not hard. It looked very imtimidating at first, but go to their web site, it's so easy to navigate and I like it so far. This is my first official week. I still have to figure out some things but I have a feeling they have a great CSR response also.

Hello, Yes you can scan the items when you get home. I scan mine when I get home every trip. I hope that you do decide to sign up with them even after hearing some of the people negative thoughts. I have to say that I have fun doing it and it is easy even if it is time consuming. I hope that this sums it all up for you.

Seppy is right. It's fun and it looks like they reward you well once you rack up the points, which doesn't look very hard.

I have been a member for 7 years and have a great time with it,there are times I will forget to scan a purchase or buy stuff with no scan code, but I always send the info once a week and normaly get the super scanner points.
I have recieved a camera that would have cost me over a hundred dollars at a store, and it took awhile to earn enough points, but as it is free, big bonus.
I highly recommend it.

I realize it will take time to rack up the points, but the same goes for all the other survey sites I'm with. I personally like having my voice heard on products and things. So the added bonus of a gift is nice.
Thanks for responding.

I don't do the homescan. I am doing a television research now that they sent me through the mail. And there was $5.00 included in the envelope. This isn't the first one I have done. Each time I get one I get the money up front. This is one I did earlier. The one I am doing now had 5 new crisp dollar bills in it.

My sister-in-law does this, and has been doing this for the last several months. She goes grocery shopping a couple times a week and when she comes home, scans everything before she puts it away. I know that you only get points for like one scan a month(or is it a week), right? But she scans each and every time. I didn't know that they have surveys too? I wonder if she does them. Do you get extra points for the surveys? I'll have to ask her about that.

Yeah you get extra pts for the surveys, they also do surveys through the mail that you use the scanner with and you get points that way. You get pts each week you transit your scanner info, even if you did not shop. The pt values grow every so many months...it's not so bad so far. And I just got a canvas shopping bag, you know the kind they are promoting for "greener" shopping.

Hi.
I belong to the Homescan Panel and I like it a lot. Once you get int othe habit of scanning before puitting them away, it's very east.
I do have the new scanner which works much easier. And transmitting is as easy as sitting in the base and pressing a button(of course it have to be hooked up to a phone jack).
I have not redeemed points for anything yet...I have about 35,000 points now and I have been doing it for about 1 1/2 years.
I like the fact that if you decide to quite scanning, pack everything back in the box it came in and put on the return address sticker that they provide for you in the beginning and send it back. No questions asked.
I'm hoping to cash in for something real nice someday.

Hello, I have been a member of that site for about 7 months. I too thought it would be hard to do it but after like 3 scans it was a piece of cake.
The only down fall for me is that I sometimes forget to transfer the information to them. I have only forgot to do 3 times which is not to bad. I signed up when my mom told me that you can get some nice stuff so I thought why not. I will say that I was on a waiting list because at the time there was no available spots for my area. Then when I received the stuff to get started I was so excited.
I love voicing my opinions and knowing that I am also voicing my opinions for other people is great. My mom on the other hand has been a member for about a good 10 years maybe and she has gotten a few prizes already. But I think she is now keeping her points for something big. Which is what I am doing, I'm not sure what I am going to get till that something pops up at me. Then I will know. Well good luck in the group and have fun earning. My over all experience with them is great and they are very active to when it comes to us needing answers.

We did this for a very short duration but experienced technical difficulties and could not get any help from the parent company at all. Our unit just quit working correctly one day and We could not even get a response from them.. No form of communication elicited a response. So we ultimately ended up sending the unit back. Sure was a great idea with potential, but with technical support, it was doomed. We never did earn anything or get any of the perks, but it also did not cost us anything out of pocket, either.
