Social networks like friendster, facebook, tagged, myspace and the like are popular on the net today, but a new breed of social networking sites have emerged and offers a far more concept, that is virtual reality. Two of the best and much well known sites, There.com and SecondLife offers pretty much the same virtual concept of socializing with friends and other people around the world in a virtual environment.
both offers a lot of fun and excitement, and u can do all you want with the same. But, lets wonder around a nd ask ourselves which is better than the other, can u spot the Not?, feel free to share the pros and cons.

I haven't heard of or tried "there.com" yet,but have experienced SL...my Avatar pic is "Me" in SL before I stopped using it some months back.. If there.com has set itself up in competition to SL,offering the same depth of experiences, world, environment, object and avatar creation,It could be good..or at least, take some of the pressure off SL! The difficulty that SL had is a result of it's limitations and it's popularity..it was going from upgrade fix to upgrade each week, with occasional service "Blackouts" while the upgrades were being installed..there were limits on the number of avatars that could inhabit a particular area at any given time..a popular SL Event could reduce the environment to a crawl or freeze.Does There.com have it's own currency, with an exchange rate against a real world currency that will allow people in business "In World" to have a cash earning online business in RL? Can you Voice chat with others? Have you the option to join free and participate fully,or are there paid subscriptions to join up? What online payment methods are available to use there? The reason I've stopped using SL (for now, anyway) is the amount of time I was spending on it..It was interesting to explore and meet others, but I'd rather be spending time working on a relationship in RL than cyberspace...

Im more into There.com now, I have tried SL too, great graphics indeed, though as u said sometimes lagging and freesing in crowded environments, and animation of the avatars are quite robotic in SL. While in There.com, motion animation is fluid, much graceful and reactive to ur controls, theres a bit lagging at times in crowded area in the game but it has some warnings too informing you that a certain place u wanna go is crowded. Its also a free site to join in no subscriptions to make, it has a currency too called Therebux, which u can use in buying things, has also voice chats, and mode of payments online is also available if u wanna upgrade your account, premium membership is just $10 dollars lifetime. I guess i like better There.com though SL is much more graphically enhanced, the environment also is a plus for me in There.com, coz its much brighter as compared to SL's gloomy sun. Well feel free to check it out,Shep and see yah in there.com, by the way if u happen to join up u can find me there, my avatars name is maladaga6.

Before I left SL,they had brought in a new atmospherics environment to make the sky more realistic,to give sunsets, clouds, etc, called "Windlight"...I quite liked it..it helped make in world photography more interesting! Thanks for the Best Response!
