Hi all, I signed up for Technorati less than 12 hours ago. Beside being a blog directory, what other functions does Technorati offer? Being a computer idiot, I still very blur about widgets, tag and whatever terms they are using. How do I best make use of Technorati to increase traffic to my blog?

Technorati won't increase your traffic very much. They're just a directory service which - if you remember to ping them - might get a couple of extra hits. The important thing is to be listed, so that you rise through their ranking system as your blog becomes more popular. Once you get high up in their list, I would imagine the traffic becomes significant.
For a new blog, make sure you're on as many directories as possible. BlogCatalog send me a couple of hits every now and again. LinkReferral.com is a hundred or more a month. BlogBurst, BlogLines, BlogExplosion, Entrecard... there's loads.
The best method for traffic is - bizarrely - making friends. If someone on a bigger blog where you comment happens to like a post you wrote and links to it, your traffic can spike. This just happened to me a day or so ago and I went from about a hundred visitors to twice that amount instantly. It won't last, but it's a boost.

I joined Blogcatolog a couple of days ago, still feeling my way around. I guess the same advice in corporate world applies here "Be visible". Once my HR manager mentioned that those who got promotions were those who talked a lot and made themselves visible to the management.
I guess the same logic applies to blog marketing, got to join the forum and makes a lot of noise and be visible! Then the traffic shoots up oh!

They do put you in a directory and rate your blog. I think they do increase traffic to your blog if you are signed up for them. I have used them for awhile. I like to use things that I think will increase traffic to my blog. It is one of the agents that wil do this. I like this site among others that I use. It is good.

Hi Snowy, thanks for sharing the positive experience. Is there anything that I can do to improve traffic flow? The blog directory has a huge database of blogs, it is very hard for a single blog to gain attention from the viewers. What do you do to make your blog stands out?
