I have seen many discussions about favorite oldies on here, but a few days ago I got into an oldies discussion about the songs that people have forgotten Do you remember these -- The Black Superman http://www.imeem.com/people/7YJwbE/music/QJwbfmNR/johnny-wakelin-black-superman-muhammad-ali/ or How about Disco Duck http://www.frogstar.com/mp3files/DiscoDuck.mp3 (I hear this is popular at kids b'day parties) and then there was Kung Fu FIghting http://aimini.net/view/?fid=pHlxPkC8QBNmxHxutfgy - I was taking Karate when this song came out and people would call the school and play the song (way before caller id) Can you add to this list of weird songs, tell me what kind of memories these songs bring back.

Gosh all those songs were all we heard on the radio here in Italy in the late 70s when I moved here. No-one had a clue what they were singing but everyone knew the words

Wow, I had no idea that those songs were so popular...what amazes me is that I can't remember what I did this morning yet I will not hear a song for 30 years but remember the words. Is that true of songs where you did not understand the words?

I moved here in my early twenties and only knew two words - ciao and pizza - but I picked up many words from the pop songs that were on the go at the time. I learnt the tunes then and hadn't a clue what they were talking about. Now I know netter and still hum some of them. However at that time many of those very commercial songs like the ones mentioned above were all the rage here. One which comes to mind is 'YMCA' by Village People who still appear on television every once in a while. Even now most of the US and UK artists are more popular than the locals. Strange world
