I hope you had insurance. Is everybody ok? Alot of wreid things have been happening. If you read the bible everything that it says is happening. Like it says one day you will have to pay for water. It also says for one pay check will cost a loaf a bread.

There wasn't anything ruined that I could tell. The water was only about ankle deep, and anything that could have gotten ruined was up higher than that. I think the only thing that was on the floor that got ruined were cardboard boxes, and those boxes had glass jars in them.

Ah, what a great news. I am looking for some rain here too but not that heavy that it could flood our appartment. Well, only ankle deep right.
I can remember last year, we had loads of rain in rainy season. half of my city was flooded only by rain water. Most of the apartment's basement was full with water. People were using cranes to get their vehicles out from the basement. Guess, crain owners made a good money last year.

When I was a kid we lived in a house that used to flood when we got a lot of rain, too. We didn't start out with a sump pump but I remeber my father putting one in and all the digging he had to do down there. I also remember the flooding. I hope your basement dries out and that your pump continues to work as it should.

I am so sorry about your basement. A few years ago we had heavy rains and the house I owned had a full finished basement. The city's sewer system got flooded with rain and it backed up into my basement because my house was the last on the city main. It was horrible. My insurance wouldn't cover it because I didn't have flood insurance. I don't live in an area that gets floods so I didn't think that I needed it. I tried sueing the city but nothing has come out of it.

I remember when I was a kid our basement flooded, it was really bad! We had thick carpet, and thought we'd never get it dry.
We ended up ripping it out and replacing it with thinner carpet, lol!

I am so sorry for all of that. We have been through this twice. The last time, the kids were playing video games in the basement and were so engrossed in their game that they didn't see that half the basement was flooded with water. They did perk up when they heard my screams as I came down the basement stairs. How fun it is to drag large areas of carpeting out to dry and cleaning up the mess.
I got so sick of the whole thing that we installed a battery back-up pump. That came in handy last spring when the main pump failed. It is nice because if the electric goes out, the back-up pump still works. I also installed a $10 alarm that goes off when water touches it. I set the alarm and put it on the floor a little way away from the pump area. You can find these alarms in the plumbing department of the home improvement stores. I have these alarms set by the water heater, furnace, and under sinks.
I hope you have a dry good evening.
