How do you feel when somebody beat you to it?

Have you ever had moments of regret for not starting a discussion which came into your mind because later on somebody posted a similar discussion? I have experienced it more than three times. It was my own fault for procrastinating. Each time I did not feel too upset but the regret was there, especially when it was not due to other urgent commitments. Do you have a similar experience?

Well, at least your response shows that I am not paranoid or hallucinating. Some of us do think along the same lines so having the same idea is unavoidable.

Hi rosdimy! Yes that often happens. I don't start many discussions because there are so many out there and I don't want to repeat topics by others. So I have a thought, ponder on it, wait .... and wait too long! Someone else sets up the same thing that I was contemplating. Well, good for them as it was my own fault for dithering. Hopefully next time I have an idea I will be quicker off the mark Happy Lotting!

Romantic... yes I guess that has something to do with it Old age is not catching up yet ... because I manage to run faster and stay ahead of it! Could well be the pizza.... typing with sticky fingers slow me down a lot

Are you a romantic, lingering for some time before moving on? Or old age is catching up with you? I too hope that my habit of waiting for a better moment can be pushed aside. Otherwise I may experience the same thing again. As for you maybe if you consume less pizza you will be faster? all the best, rosdimy

Hi rosdimy, Just too bad lol. It has happened to me a few times in fact. The last time was just yesterday. I had this topic drafted for days but I did not get to posting it. Yesterday, I finally decided to post that topic and while responding to some of others' discussions first, I stumbled upon a fresh discussion of the same topic as mine! Well, what can I say? Tough luck, be faster next time lol.

Yes, tough luck on us. Initially I wanted to post this discussion at a certain time in order to get a bigger exposure. I decided not to do so because in the past by the time I got around to write my ideas down it was too late. Certainly it was not a case of better late than never. all the best in your postings, rosdimy

I've also had such an experience. When an idea occurs to me, I just can't make up my mind to start a discussion, sometimes, I even think it stupid to post such a topic. Just like you, I keep on procrastinating, and suddenly, I come to see a similar topic posted by another person. At that moment, I'd feel a little bit upset as if my thoughts have been stole by someone. But later, I'd try to calm down and read carefully what the person says on the similar topic, and ususally I intend to respond, letting him/her know my ideas.

When it happens I never entertain the thought that my ideas have been stolen. I feel upset over my own weakness in waiting while there is no real reason for me to wait much longer. Many times I responded to discussions started by other members even though I had wanted to begin it. Served me right for dithering. all the best, rosdimy

lots of time!!.. but i dont mind actually,.. i just respond to that 'similar' discussions.. with so many thousands of members here on myLot, it is difficult to find a 'unique' discussion which only you might think of.. i think a lot of people actually have a lot of similar thoughts, problems and topics that they wish to 'talk about'.. sort of makes me realize - that no matter where we are, which country we live in, what background we come from.. we quite similar.. dont you think, so?

It cannot be denied we are similar in more ways than we think we are. When we are faced with the same situation most of us will react in the same manner. Most of us have similar problems so it is only natural that there are similarities in thinking, with the people involved not knowing what the others are actually doing. all the best, rosdimy

Yes I have had that experienced before. I am okay with it since it was due to my "lack of fastness". So I will go and respond to that person's discussion and would probably start my own discussion straight away and word it differently plus adding a photo maybe. I think this happens all the time in myLot because I do see certain discussions different title but contents are more or less the same like the other.

Yes, we have only ourselves to blame for delaying the discussion. The similarities may have different reasons but the main point is we lose the chance to be the first. all the best, rosdimy

It happens with me many a times that I find a similar discussion on the dash board of mylot, which is just fiddling in my mind, before taking a final shape. It does not matter much, I can still start the same topic, there is no restriction, as such, I've my own set of friends, who will respond to my discussion, I believe.

I guess we can post a similar discussion but concentrating or focusing on a different point. After all there are many angles from which we can view a point. This approach is taken by a few people. all the best, rosdimy

Well, let me share my experience. Sometimes, I kind of see an easy discussion question. In my eagerness to answer it, I type a whole chunk of useful information and waste valuable time. As a result, those who just summarize the main points or post irrelevant information or links hog all the space and mine gets pushed to the bottom. Thus, it is hardly ever read by others and is often ignored. I try to write faster but it seems that someone always beats me to the chase.

It must have been quite frustating to you. Maybe you shoukd become a speed typist. I have learned not to put everything inside a discussion, response, or comment. Nevertheless sometimes I still do it. It is a case of old habits die hard. all the best, rosdimy
