My daughter asked me to go to a pole dancing class. I'm overweight and didn't think it was something I would like, I told her I would go after she told me I could go and just watch. I went. she threw me a pair of shorts and said "c'mon!! it's fun!!" I went ahead and took the class with her. It's fun, pretty good workout. Just curious if there's anyone that's taken pole dance classes for fitness and if they lost any weight? I plan on going back, it was fun.... any tips to get ready for the next class besides push ups?

I have never considered going to one of these because I am overweight too. However I do believe that it would be a great workout. I have no advice for you other than keep up the good work and let us know how it all works out for you! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Thanks!! The good thing is that it's all women and only a small amount of people per lesson (3-4) and I've decided that I'm going to have fun and try not to be so self concious!

I think that sounds like fun! I have never tried it before, so I guess I can't really give any suggestions, but it is something that I have always thought would be really fun to try. I have been wanting to try it out, but I am pretty shy, and I'm afraid I would be so self conscious! I really think it would be a great workout and probably improve self-confidence, but I would really have to work up the nerve to try it in a class. Maybe if I could go with a friend, then it might not be so scary! Anyway, I'm glad to hear you had a good time with it! Maybe one day I will try it, too!

Oh!! Please find someone to go with and go!! Even if you can't find a friend to go with, you might find a friend there! I was really shy until I was in my mid 20's and now I start conversations in line at the grocery store. I'm not asking you to go because of the class, but because I think you would benefit greatly! Call around and see if there are any classes near you where you could observe. If it looks like something you'd have fun doing and looks like the girls in the class are having fun and aren't too intimidating....sign up! (check into it for pole fitness/beginners)

Maybe I should buy my wife a pole and let her dance for me...LOL This way she could get the exercise she needs, and I could get worked up and give it to her LOL

Maybe you should, but what if she gets good enough at it that she wants more of an audience? If you buy the pole, don't forget to pay for her lessons, too! (I mean....you gotta pay for those dances SOMEHOW, right?!?!) I think you'd somehow be getting more than what you bargained for!

I have never taken a pole dancing class but I would love to I need to lose some weight and I've heard that it will help you lose some weight. I mean it has to help you lose weight because if you have ever seen a real pole dancer at a club there are not over weight they are all in good shape. I would love to have a pole dancers body I am still trying to lose the weight from my two kids and it's been over three years I need to lose about 45 pounds before I get where I want to be. So pleas let me know how it go's.

I've got 45-50 pounds I want to lose. The good thing about these classes are that there are only women there and there are only a few people there (3-4 at a time) and I have my daughters support. I'll go back friday and give an update!!
