From Tuesday to Friday, I will be housesitting, kid sitting, and animal sitting while my friend goes on vacation. She's paying me well and since substitute teaching has dried up (1 day or 1/2 day per week) because everyone is worried about loosing their jobs. Then next week, I start the Census job, so this works out well. It's strange, I get no work and then I get a ton of work.
Have you ever house sit, kid sit, and/or animal sit? How did your work doing that go?
Have you ever had no work, a little work, and then a lot of work?
Thanks and take care.

Thanks, it's just for a week, but since I'm starting a new job in 2 weeks, it helps to fill-in between jobs.
Have you ever tried advertizing that you will house sit? Just wondering. Can you get a recommendation from the person you house sat for? A couple of months is a long time.
The Caretaker Gazette was a paper I used to get for a few dollars a year. It had all kinds of great jobs, but you would need to be very mobile, able to move around the country unless you were lucky enough to find a listing in it that was nearby. I was not mobile. Take care and thanks.

Oh, that would be so interesting as perhaps a retirement job. I just cannot retire yet, not for at least seven years. Maybe ten years.

It's fun to look at the Caretaker Gazette, if you do a search for it, I think it's still online. Lots of neat places to take care of. Everything from trailer parks to mansions with mostly average homes inbetween. Thanks and take care

Thanks for responding and for joining mylot. You get better $ and stars for 4 sentences at least per response. Hope you like being here. Yes, I like to help my friends when I can. It's a challenge because I either have too little work or too much. Thanks and take care

Have fun. How old are the kids? This is a job I haven't done. Not so sure I would like the responsibility of taking care of someone's kids, house and pets. Think it would stress me out. Hope you have internet access while you are housesitting. When the kids go to bed, you can jump right on myLot and keep us posted as to how things are going.
I do have a job but have no hours. Sounds crazy. I wanted to take off the entire winter and did and now am waiting to hear about any hours I can get this spring and summer. I do like to keep busy but not overwhelmed. Working keeps me young!

They're teenagers, so I'll probably go online during the day when they're at school, but I've promised myself to start exercising, so not very long each day. Thanks and take care.

I have not done much except baby (kid) sitting. I have had it happen that I had no work, and then suddenly had more than I could handle, almost. I was that way for close to a year, running out of options and not enough work, then I got full time, and now I am management, so it is even more work. It will be interesting to see what I earn when I no longer make overtime. I am glad things are smoothing out for you.

It's always nice to hear from people who have had similar experiences since it doesn't seem like very many people do when it comes to the amount of work. Thanks and take care.

I see there is a house sitter site here, not sure if any of these agencies or sites are any good, but they are interesting. Thanks again for your response and take care.

I've never done any of those things but I think it would probably be one of the highest paying jobs out there when it comes to work at home stuff. Sounds like you'll have your hands full but if your getting a hefty sum it's worth it, huh! Congrats on your jobs. Yes, I've had no work, a little work and then a lot of work in the form of one job! Lol, a job I used to work at would sometimes have no work for a week or two, and then either have a little or a lot of work after that.

Oh wow, I almost never run into people who have similar in the job department to me as far as the amount of work. I don't feel so alone. Thanks and take care
