Who gets the eggs?

This really happened! I heard of this in school. Their was a couple that married but the woman was having a procedure that would not allow her to have kids later on. So the had 8 eggs fertilized and frozen for later.
Years later they decided to get devorced. The woman wanted to eggs because they were her only chance to have kids but the man did not want her to have his kids since they were devorcing.
The question was who should get the eggs in the devorce? The woman or the man?
The judge gave the man half of the eggs and the woman the other half!
What do you think of this?
What should have happened?

now that i think about that if hes just doing just to hurt her for the divorce the judge shouldnt have ruled that way

Honestly I can understand where they are both coming from. I understand that he probably did not want to have kids with someone he was not going to be with but I think he needed to be understanding and sensitive to where she was coming from as well. This was her only chance to have kids. Once those eggs are gone then that is it for her. I think any woman would fight for at least the option to have kids. I think it is good she at least got 4. She might have been able to start a family with that.

OMG are you serious??? That judge has a problem. Why would the man need them? If he remarries or gets into another relationship, he can have more children! That poor woman had only that one chance! That was horrible of the judge to rule that way, and it was horrible of that man to even press that issue! Thats ridiculous!!

It is a hard place to be. That would be her only chance to have kids but on the other hand does the guy have the right to say if he wants to have kids with that woman. They should have frozen her eggs unfirtilized. This way if she meets someone new and falls in love they have that option. But they probably did not think they would ever seperate either.
This really happened. I remember this debate when I was in school. Most the girls were on the woman's side and most the guys were on the man's side. I fou nd it interesting.

I think that was fair because they should have the right to choose since it took both of them. They both should get what they want, even tho they are divorcing.
