First tooth!

Last night we realized our son, one week shy of 9 months, has a tooth beginning to show on his bottom gum! So I guess now he's no longer a baby and will be chomping on everything soon... Naturally my husband and I were jumping up and down clapping as if we just won the lottery... are we too silly? Since everyone we spoke with said their children got teeth at a very young age, we were beginning to think he would always be toothless!
When did your child get their first tooth? Did you start brushing immediately? Please share...

I think its so exciting when my children got there first tooth. My oldest got his first tooth at 8 months and my youngest got his at 6 months. I did start brushing as soon as they got there teeth. Well congrats on your sons 1st tooth. Now you will start seeing them pop like crazy

I remember my daughter's first tooth. Man was she in pain. So were we. It was so hard to get her to sleep and to stop crying. She was around 8 or 9 month old. It was a painful time. It was exciting. It must really hurt them to get those teeth in. I started brushing my daughters teeth after she got more teeth in after one. I use a soft toothbrush and no tooth paste right know. My mother told me it was safer.

I'm so sorry you and your daughter had an awful time with her teeth. We actually had no idea that he was getting a tooth until I heard a little clink on the spoon when I was feeding him! He was a little cranky lately but we just attributed it to his refusal to sleep. I guess we're very lucky! Thanks for sharing and I guess I need to get some toothbrushes!

My kids both got their first tooth at 4 months old. That is pretty early for a baby to be getting a tooth. My son popped 2 at 4 months actually.
Congrats to your son for finally cutting that first tooth! I bet the others will follow quickly.

I've heard from a lot of moms that their children got their teeth that early. Thank goodness he didn't at that point because I was still nursing... Soon he'll have a mouth full and eating everything in sight! Thanks for the response!
