Well I have tators growing. I just covered the plants for the first time. They are growing strong so it shouldn't be long before I have them ready to just grow. We have two mounds growing in trash cans we cut in half plus we have more seed tators to do two more mounds.
Have you ever grown potatoes?

Just last Monday we ate the potatoes I'd grown in a large tub. By the time we ate them, they'd been out of the ground for just 2 hours and they were good! My mum grows a few crops in tubs every year. Before they moved they had a big garden and my dad grew all their own vegetables (& enough to spare for friends and neighbours!)

Ok the way I do it is this. I take either half a garbage can with the bottom cut out or two tires stacked and put wet newspaper down inside them. I then cover them in layers of peat, manure and top soil. when the plants start to grow I cover them again and keep doing this till I have about 2-3 feet in my container then I let the plants grow and they will flower and then die when they die you dig up your tators.

I have and they are so much fun! I loved cutting the eyes out of the potatoes and then waiting patiently for them to come up. Digging them is fun too, to see how many potoatoes you can get from one plant! Be sure and dig up some early so that you have tender new potatoes to boil in butter with the skins still on, and then call me when they're ready to eat!

Yes I have. Unfortunately, where we are living at the moment, it isn't really suitable for growing many vegetables. Where there is space in the garden, it is in shade most of the day. We do grow courgettes, tomatoes and peppers in containers though. We are actually house-hunting at the moment, and one of the main reasons is so that we can grow vegetables again!

I love growing veggies. I do raised beds (fl sand is not very nutrient rich)and container gardening. I am in the process of building more beds for veggies. we do 3x3 beds and we can grow quite a bit in those plus the beds that run the fenceline. Our crops should be good this year.
