left my office and went to the nearest junk food place and bought, fried chicken, biscuits and fried potato wedges. Healthy ? Yeh right!
I always crave fat when I am under serious stress. My daughter called and gave me some really awful news and I craved fat imediately after speaking with her.
Do you crave fat when under stress or what do you crave in stressful times?

I'm sorry about your awful news... :-(
It's either fat or sugar, fat or sugar. You are not alone in that, that's for sure!

I hate stories like this. I have two good friends over on Yuwie who have run into problems with US immigration. One is not able to get here to visit her ailing husband due to her "politics" (she says she has none) and the other had a good friend with a green card get deported because of the politics of somebody he knew. I know we have to protect ourselves but somehow we have gone way too far in some cases.
Anyway, back to your daughter... My heart goes out to her.

It is awful news for Rachel. She was recruited by N.C. and passed rigorous tests to be employed. Last year she began to change her staus in the USA. Her school (and others) wanted her on staff. She has won awards and has been commended for achieving the highest literacy rate in her county. Honoured by "No child Left Behind" etc. Really has worked hard and achieved. I have visited her school and received nothing but the highest praise by both principals. She loves kids and they adore her.
Homeland Secuirty last year stopped her paper work to obtain a green card as there was an illegal immigrant in the USA with the same name as Rachel. They gave her a one year extension while they looked for this other person who has her name.
Her paper work is ready apart from a letter from her HR Manager to state that she is employed by the County.
The county issued yesterday, a directive that the teaching jobs are only to go to US citizens.
This is their right and she respects the new laws. It is perfectly understandable that they would give teaching jobs to US citizend first in these hard times.
It is just that she had bought a home and furnished it. she has paid for her car and has no furniture or credit card expenses and was doing so well and now this happens. She has lived in her community for four years and has now been told to leave at the end of June.
She was recruited because NC did not have enough teachers in the schools.
She is in total shock and a short while ago told me that the teachers and children at school were crying today at the thought of her leaving. The community welcomed her with open arms and she loved them back. She received her Masters with distinction in Education last year by studying part time at University. Rachel has not even had a driving ticket.
I know that she is in shock as she called me last night and asked me what she should do with her toaster? She has a house of new appliances all paid for and furniture and she is wondering what to do with her furniture! My baby is in shock. I am feeling it for her.

Hello Dear friend,
I pray that whatever is the reason for your stress, it should go away. Well, the work which I am involved in comes with a heck load of stress. and I smoke. Sometimes I hope that if I were not in so much of stress I could have been a different person with a more composed and serene mind. But never I crave for fats, infact I hate food when I am under strss, at times when its too large to handle I dont take even a morsel, thats how I combat stress.

Thanks Bodhi but she cannot get a Green Card unless she is employed, and her exteneded visa only permits her to teach at her school. All non USA Teachers are being sent home. I am just praying so hard for a miracle. Many thanks for your very kind response my friend.

HI,Yeah I went through the responses and have got to know about Rachel. I am so sorry to learn that. I was just wondering and maybe it is a bit out of the line as I am not aware of the situation there precisely, couldn't she apply for another job? I pray that she would get her job back and things would turn fine eventually. I belive that sometimes there are very hard times to test our perseverance. Things would turn to be fine dear friend.
I shall pray for you too.
Bodhi

I crave pasta when I'm stressed. Pasta is my comfort food. I can eat it every day. When I'm stressed I can eat a huge plate full. Chocolate also helps me when I get stressed.

Hi ya cynthiann
I would say to anyone that had a craving for a specific that maybe they were missing something in their diet. I think I do the same as you though. I have been really busy this month, as I think you know, and I have done nothing but eat junk food especially in the evenings!

I like fattening and fried food all the time.
I don't need to be stressed or anything.
The more fattening and fried the better.

much research has been done on this topic, yes our emotions are triggered by food, for me I don't care what it is when I am stressed or depressed I eat, I eat anything in sight. It is really bad.

I have never really noticed before what I crave when I am stressed out. I do know that sometimes nothing but something fattening and greasy will do though. You fried chicken, biscuits, and potato wedges sound good. I just got back from the grocery store and I got a salad in the deli. Today I was craving salad.

I go the opposite way when I am under stress I do not eat at all and lose lots of weight. I never used to be like that I always used to turn to food so I do not know why it all changed!

I am an emotional eater, I guess. When I am alone I used to cook and eat everything for I don't want some leftover foods. When I am stress and lonely I used food as my satisfaction to releave them. I am avoiding high calories foods so I turned to fruits and breads.

Don't worry about eating chocolate. Choclate comes from the Cocoa bean so it is a vegetable and veggies are good for you.
I adore eating that vegetable.

I prefer to call it comfort food.
Seriously, if the worst thing I ever do is eat a few donuts, or a pint of ice cream in a crisis, I think I am doing ok. It only becomes a problem if (a) you always seem to be in some kind of crisis or (b) if resorting to comfort food becomes your response to any kind of emotional swing. I was at (b) for a while and 30 pounds later....
I know there are healthier ways to deal with stress, like hop on a treadmill or something like that. But I think sometimes we just have to cave to what our body and mind are asking for.
Hope everything works out for you and your family.
