We have all heard strange sayings/things that make us wonder haven't we. How about this one....
Put your 2 cents in and a penny for your thoughts?
My question is this, where'd that other penny go to?
How about, why do we drive in a parkway and park in a driveway?
Okay now have you heard of anything that makes you go hmmmm? Please share any and all you know/heard of in your life. Thanks in advance.

Why does my hair get lighter in the sun and my skin get darker in the sun? Hmmm.
Why does my boss give me nothing to do all day and then at four O clock she gives me a massive amount of work to be done before five? Hmmm. Why do more people not use mylot? Hmmm. Why does my mom make it so obvious she likes my sister more than me? Hmmm.

cause you drive away from someone's drive way?

I have a slight variation on one of yours in that we say Put your two-penn'th in or four penn'th. So, we lose THREE pence if we use the latter. lol.
The only other comparable ones I can think of right now are, "What goes up, must come down", and yet, we're told, "The only way is up!" :)
Brightest Blessings, Grandpa Bob.

Well just a few. A few I have heard from the kids.
1)THAT IS FAT= NICE PRETTY.
2)IT'S COOL= SAME AS FAT= NICE
3)WOW THAT IS SICK= GREAT, NICE
See that is just a few of what I have heard from them. And I can't remember right off but you know I will later. You have a good day. Your friend onlydia

It's saying and idioms like these that make English such a difficult language to learn. It also makes great fodder for comedians like George Carlin (he'll be missed) and Stephen Wright. One of my favorites is, "Keep your eye on that chair". Aren't you afraid some one will sit on it?

Those as well as Robin Williams are my all time fave comedians.
I loved the "Hippy Dippy Weatherman" skit by Carlin.
