I purchased Yoga just my size back in february and I LOVE it. Its a DVD for yoga that's geared at "larger" women. I've liked doing yoga for years but I always hate going to the classes or most of the videos (i use books mostly) because they use such freakishly skinny people to do the poses that it seems impossible for someone whos over weight or even a normal size to do those poses. Because this movie uses a plus size model (ok its not like shes huge) I can actually SEE myself doing the poses they show not sit there and go and they think im gonna get that body part WHERE? i dont even BEND that way cause ya... Have you seen this dvd? or seen others similar? What would you recommend for exercise videos for heavier people?

Hi, I undertand what u r trying to say. Actually the biggest problem with people is in their mind. They think the yare over weight, unfit and cant do exersixes. WHat i recommened is change your mindset completly. When u start exersixing or doing Yoga no one is going to give u tough erersixes in the begining. Even a slim person will face difficulty in doing workout initially. But i would say u need a proper training with a proffessional trainer for help. If yoga exersixes aren't done properly then u r bound to get injured. And dont get shy going to classes. Its perfectly Ok. Change yr mindset and start thinking u r fit, u can do whatever comes yr way. Yoga will change u as a person physically and mentally as well. Its a best way to curb diabetes and many other diseases. In this stressful living world Yoga is one of the most powerful solution for people all over the world. Cheers, Tutul

Not going to the classes isnt a case of being shy its a case of not being able to afford or WANTING to DRIVE 2 hours twice a week one way to take a class. And honestly i prefer to use videos and do exercise from the comfort of my own home. I LIKE this video thats what i was saying not that my mindset says im fat just that i dont like how they always use freakishly skinny people for the positions and such.

Hi, Sorry ot hear that its very expensive going to a yoga class there. Here in India we provide free classes of Yoga to people so that it is practised by more and more people. I believe that it needs a trainer initially so that the person who is learning it shd do the exersixes properly. And then motication is a very big factor too. If u r around with like minded people the chances are that u will do it for a longer period of time. Anyways i hope u r doing it regularly and keeping fit. Cheers, Tutul

Its not the classes that are really expensive - about 100 dollars for a 12 week course isnt bad but ..honestly gas for drivin that far and then having to drive back plus the time just isnt worth it. I did take some free classes in univeristy (thats what got me liking yoga!) But then i graduated and no more free classes. Plus i moved to a rural area where well the nearest city (and place that offers classes) is a 1.5-2 hour drive away from my house. And thats just one way. A round trip like that is about 25 dollars each time and that addes up pretty quick with 2 classes a week.

I haven't seen this DVD, but I think it is awesome there is one. I think too often people think they can;t do yoga because they can't do some of the moves. I started doing it as a way of keeping myself fit during my cancer treatments, and now that I am done, I still do it to stay in shape. I love it.

I love it too. I am really impressed with the DVD - i especially like the fact that it doesnt do any of the upside down positions (they make me wanna be sick - found that out at a class)

Wow, I never even knew they had things like that. I do yoga with the Wii fit though. But I always have to laugh at that computerized woman who says "now visualize your ideal body" because I'm thinking "uh yeah, I'm looking at her!" I don't mind if the person is thin if they are virtual though. I don't relate flexibility to my weight because I used to be skinny at one point and I wasn't flexible then either.

Hi saundyl! I think that's great that they are finally using "normal sized people" for their DVD's for yoga! It really annoys me to see those "perfectly skinny" people moving in those positions that most of us could never get into! I haven't seen these yet, but I think it is wonderful that they are finally realizing that the real world has people that are not built like their usual models! I am very happy that you brought this topic up! And I think that it is great that you are doing yoga because it is supposed to relax your whole body inside and out at the same time. I had a friend of mine you used to do it all the time and she said it really helped her relax! Oh, and she wasn't skinny!
