Kathy Brier and Chris Stack were both informed last week that their contracts would not be renewed, soapcentral.com has learned. Ironically, Brier, who joined the show in 2002, reportedly wanted out any way. Stack took over as Michael in December 2007. Though rumored for months, soapcentral.com has learned that Kathy Brier (Marcie Walsh) will officially be leaving One Life to Live in the next few months. Brier isn't the only one soon to be exiting Llanview. The actress' on-screen love interest, Chris Stack (Michael McBain), will also soon be out. "Marcie and Michael McBain will leave Llanview when their story concludes in June," said executive producer Frank Valentini. "Both Kathy Brier and Chris Stack have been invaluable members of the One Life to Live cast. They are both very talented actors and we wish them well in the next chapter of their careers."One Life to Live viewers have undoubtedly noticed the recent lack of on-screen time for Brier and Stack. In October 2007, soapcentral.com reported on Brier's desire to exit daytime and return to the stage. Though the actress issued an initial denial about the report, she apparently changed her mind shortly thereafter. Months later, several published interviews confirmed the report, quoting Brier as saying that she would "probably not" renew her contract when it expired. Brier will not get the chance to refuse a new contract. While fans may disagree, network executives have apparently decided that there is no additional story for Brier or Stack's characters. The pair was informed last week of the show's decision not to renew their contracts. Cutting the two roles also frees up additional money that the show can use elsewhere. Brier joined One Life to Live in October 2002 in what was to have been a short-term, recurring role. By December of the same year, network executives were so impressed with the actress, that they offered her a long-term contract. Brier has been on contract with One Life to Live ever since. Stack, meanwhile, has been a member of the One Life to Live cast for a shorter period of time. Stack assumed the role of Michael McBain in December 2007. Stack was hired after ABC dismissed Nathaniel Marston for an alleged assault, and other issues, reportedly performance related. Brier and Stack will exit One Life to Live in June, but an exact date has not yet been announced.
