Who needs an assult weapons ban anyways?

I noticed that not one right winger said a word about the killing of three police officers yesterday in Pittsburg. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that the killer used an assult weapon, and spoke like many on here about his love of guns, and how much he hates Obama. While reading the article I couldn't help but remember a post that I responded to afew weeks ago, and heard many of the same lies on there. Can anyone on here explain to me why it is that you need an assult weapon in the first place? And explain to me why those that have pushed Barack is going to ban all guns BS (like the NRA, Smith and Wesson, and the RNC) shouldn't be sued by the families of these victoms?
