Well this photo shows yet MORE seeds I have started for my
garden. I have 3 varieties of tomatoes started, Roma, Big Boy,
and Cherry, waqtermelon, pickles, sunflowers, corn and a few other
seeds as well. I have a large dining room window that faces south. It gets a lot of sunshine each day so the cups and seeds sit in this window sill to soak up the sun and it's heat. Do you place
any type of plants/seedlings in a southern facing window?
Are you a gardener at all?

I have a long window seat that faces east in my dining room and it's filled with houseplants. It's really neat because it has 4 drawers and 2 cupboards under it, lots of nice storage space. The plants look pretty there. I'll probably move them for a couple of weeks, though, once I pot my seeds.

Here in Minnesota it is still way too cold to set any plants oputdoors. So they sit in a window for a month at least then they may get a breath of fresh air if it gets 60 or warmer.
I always post discussions and photos of my garden each year.

Right now I have started some indoor green house boxes that you can get at lowe's lol!! I have over 72 plants started and hopefully all will grow and I'll have a nice garden and I still have more to get to be honest. I have corn, beans, lettuce, cukes, zuccini, and much much more growing.

All I do at the end of the season as far as the veggie garden is rip the plants from the ground and toss them into my compost bin. I do the dirt etc early spring as soon as the ground is soft enough. Going to be in the mid 50's this weekend so I may do some digging, tilling, and or turning.

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
The little cups with the seedlings looks great and getting a lot of sun on them is perfect, I haven't done anything yet but will grow some tomatoes soon.

I love southern facing windows for the heat thet generates
all year long. It helps so much with seedlings and plants.

The only windows that face south in my house are a small one in the bathroom and another one in my kitchen that faces the neighboring house a foot and a half away! So, no, no plants in my south windows.

Hi grandpa,
I am living with my husband in a 3 bedroom house and we only use one and of course living room my other rooms are kind a empty so i use them as a nursery lol.
I already planted lot of vegetables there almost 1.5 month ago, 2 kind of tomatoes ( grape and big) , eggplants, cucumbers, beans, 3 kind of peppers ( chili, bell, and green), radish, parsley, basil etc...
My husband is always having fun with me, when he comes and can not find me he knows where to look, he always says that i know you were in the garden lol, He means my nursery rooms.
My cucumbers and tomatoes plants are already big enough to plant outside, I am just waiting one more week and then will start planting them outside,
Even though i am have a huge arachnophobia oh yes i am a gardener!
I like to watch them growing and use all these fresh vegetables in my dishes!!!
have a wonderful day!!

You really are organized with your seeds! And you are getting lots of sunshine from that window, that's for sure! I hope they all take and you get to enjoy lots of yummy fruits and veggies this year.
Myself, I have started with a basil plant and a mint plant and have already made another basil plant from cuttings from my original plant. I am going to give that to one of my friends who is always giving me stuff.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

My roommate is going to start them today. all the veg. and where is the cabbage? I'm so good at the planting or much of the weeding I hate it. I buy all the seeds and plants and what ever else. And let him plant in my yard. My poor grass is now a garden. Hope all your plants grow and you have a lot to eat. Your friend onlydia1 person likes this

The southern window is a good idea...my grandmother used to grow her own veggies and in springtime her entire kitchen was full of these cups containing the newly sprouted plants. I hope you have a garden large enough to grow those plants, as they will require more and more room and sun as you go. Also, when they reach maturation, you will see that homegrown veggies are way tastier than those purchased at the grocer's and you have the chance of eating veggies that are ripe instead of the green ones they often put on the market.
