I am a pole dancer, and a pole dance for fitness instructor. I have been wanting a pole for a couple of years, since I stopped regularly working in clubs I have put on 20 lbs, and I know what a great workout I can get using just a pole. I have been waiting because my house is too small and there isn't room to put it or any other fitness equipment in my house. One of my friends got a toy pole and wanted me to give her lessons but the first time that I climbed it I found out it was spring loaded as it detached from the ceiling and came down. Also the friction mount at the bottom doesn't securely anchor it to the floor. So I read up on it and find that hers is just a toy it is for posing not working out on.
Well last week when I woke up my boyfriend had bought me a pole and anchored it in a flagpole stand that we have anchored out in our yard. He even installed a board floor around it so I can practice with my shoes on rather than barefooted or with sneakers in the dirt. I have lost 4 pounds in 5 days using it. Muscle memory seems to be holding true and my strength is coming back in a hurry. I can't believe how out of shape I had gotten. If you want to see some really good examples of pole dancing you can go to my you tube channel I have two playlists of poledancing videos. No I am not in them. I use them for inspiration and tricks. That was a lot of fun watching those pole dancing videos! I want to install a trapeze in my back yard, hehehe. Yes, it is amazing how a long cold winter sitting in front of a computer can take a toll on body tone and strength... I can't even do one chin-up, let alone swing my body upside down on a flagpole and hang there by an ankle! Man! Sounds like you're having a lot of fun!!!

Well I am doing it,it is great fun as you may imagine. I used to tell people that it doesn't take a lot of strength just a good grip, but after taking a year off from it and going back to doing it 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day I now realize that it takes both. It takes a lot of work to get nearly as good as the gals who are on my playlists on youtube, but they all started somewhere too right? Can't is such a demoralizing word which stops us from trying new things. A chin up today a pole spin tomorrow right. Stay positive and stay fit!

Hi, I would like to know what pole do you recommend for a 'amateur?' Which one for me is the best to buy since the malls have some but I don't know which is the best quality and durability and easy to set up... My budget is maybe under 110$ for mine and I was planning to get the hot pink pole but not sure if I should get it or not. I've been trying pole dancing on stop signs, street signs, random wall supports... n_n;; It's always been kind of a closet thing for me since high school.
