I recently did a BIOS upgrade on a WINDOWS xp PRO sys and the IDE configurations changed so am wondering what the problem might be. i got the BIOS updated download from the Manufacturers websites so am sure the software should be Ok. but the system behaves very funny these days. Please if you have any suggestions, do not hesitate to holla back and let me know!

Yes, sometimes a BIOS update can cause negative effects. There could be a mistake with the coding or an issue could occur that the manufacturer didn't anticipate when they enhanced the new BIOS. Sometimes if enough users notify the manufacturer, a new BIOS update will be provided quickly. In the meantime, try flashing back to the old BIOS version. If that doesn't solve the problem, then he issue you are experiencing is likely due to something else. Good luck and let us know how you made out.
