Well this is a shot of my compost bin. I emptyed it the other day ointo a garden bed and added more gunk starting it over again. I had set it in a spot that got shade after 11 a.m. So I had to empty it again, move the bin, and move the gunk once more. Do you compost at all? Or just buy compost? Or none at all?

I live in the city and do it.
My garden was all staarted from scratch as well.
The last owners had corn only planted and no dug up ground.
This year it is going to be bigger.
Plus I've 2 new areas to dig up as well.
One out back and one alongside the driveway next to my rasberry bushes. Lot of work for me soon.

Compost is good for indoor plants as well.
I am so antsy actually to start digging and planting.
But still have a month maybe.

I do compost, but I don't generate very much on my own. The city here offers free compost made from all the yard waste, etc. collected the previous year, but I've never taken advantage of it because I don't drive. Also, I don't think it gets "cooked" enough so would be full of weed seeds.

I need a compost bin like that. The wind blows so hard here it's impossible to keep compost damp enough to cook. I do passive composting though. I just set up a circle of hog wire to keep stray dogs out of it and dump everything in. Every 2 or 3 years, I move it over, throw the top stuff into the new spot and use what is on the bottom that has composted enough. My daughter does the vermicompost. I've been thinking about getting a worm bin to put my kitchen scraps in, but just haven't gotten up the energy to do it yet. Don't want to buy worms as I have plenty available for the digging.

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
I am glad you are back to your normal self again, that is a lot of work composting, no I don't do any and if I need some I just go and buy a small bag. Its nice to see the ground with no snow, yes its spring now and soon will be summer.
