I agree, to a certain extent. Many people don't smile because they're deliberately going out of their way to be mean and rude. You have to look at it from their side, too--maybe they've had a bad day...maybe they're in danger of being evicted from their house, or they've been laid off, or their husband or wife has slapped them with divorce papers. Those incidents don't exactly make one want to go skipping around, tra-la-la-ing, throwing flowers everywhere, and hugging everyone around them. While I agree that people should smile more often, there are legitimate cases when they don't feel like it. There are two sides to the story--not everything is what it seems to be.

I agree with you. What you give is what you receive as the saying goes. If you smile, you will get smile also in return. I am in life coaching program right now and what i learned is that when I wake up in the morning before I start my day, I go to the mirror, brush my teeth and after that I smile in the mirror and said, this is my day, the best day of my life. And also part of it is, i will smile at least 10x a day to anyone that i encountered, saleslady, taxidriver, passerby, anybody that i will see that day. Since i do that practice, my life is better than before.

I agree with you. Here in the US when you pass by people on the sidewalk it seems that only a small percentage of them smile and/or say hi back to you. Many people don't even say thank you when you open the door for them. When I cross the street, at a traffic light, drivers who are turning do not wait; they act like they'd just run you over if you, a pedestrian, don't stop even when you have the walk sign. There needs to be more love and caring toward your fellow man in this world.
