We got to know the famous saying as early as primary school:A genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. But have you ever wondered how much sweat this actually is?Last Monday scientists gave us some clue. It takes someone10,000
hours of practice to reach the top in their discipline, they say.Studies suggest that top sportsmaen, musicians and chess players have all put in this amount of hard work.So no matter what you do,if you want to be top,if you want to make differences, start practising now.

hm, Thomas Edison once said work is 99% perspiration & 1% inspiration, however this amount of sweat is quite uneeded. while hard work will alwasy be required, if one learns ways to quickly learn & do things right in just a few shots, they can become experts on just about anything. While to some this seems ridiclous, often the greatest things in history are discovered by careless mistakes hence the lightbulb, needle, pencillian

I agree with you. But at my age right now, I don't exactly what else do I want to achieve. I will just pass it on to my daughter. I will teach her this lesson of practicing.

In order to be fully alive, we must always practice our beliefs. To me, nothing could be more important, othr than the love of my husband and kids, than education. As I get older, I thing my unceasing quest for knowledge keeps me young and alive. It's not just physical skills that require practice. All aspects of life must be practiced.
I also find it urgent to practice peace and kindness, and my students occasionally laugh at that, but I see them practicing these ideals along with the class curriculum as the school year goes on, and I LOVE it!
Practice respect.
Practice peace.
Coexist in practice.
Never stop!

Although nothing is perfect, practice does really make you better at something no doubt, unless you're doing it the wrong way. This is where many people fail, they practice so hard and too much that they complain about why they're not getting better. But then they find out they're practicing it the wrong way. xD hihihih

My father was a classical pianist and conductor of some note, and when I was a teenager he had Yehudi Menuhin, a world-famous violin player and conductor on tour in Australia, to dinner.
My mother asked him, "Yehudi, how much practice do you do?" (This was aimed at me, lol, because my parents wanted me to become a famous french horn player, but I wouldn't practice.)
Yehudi said, "Elma, if I don't practice for a day, I notice the difference. If I don't practice for 2 days, my colleagues notice. If I don't practice for 3 days, the whole world notices".
It's not just the practice needed to get to the top, it's the practice you have to put in then to stay there.

I like your topic. It's very enlightening. You are indeed correct. As we all know, there is no shortcut to success.
I would also like to give kudos to Granda_lash's respond to your post, very captivating. I hope we continue to inspire one another as we venture in whatever undertakings we involve ourselves in. For me, I want to be a writer. I know I'm very far from being a good or an excellent writer. However, I always try my best to write on a regular basis to hone my writing skill. I hope someday I'll see the fruits of my labor.

My eanglish teacher always said that...And i absolutely stand by this saying because i believe that only through hard work would you be able to reach places where you've aimed to...It goes the same way for achieving grades in school. I beleive that if you truly work hard enough, you'll definitely see the results ^_^

Yeah, all great people work hard before they become the top. They are smart of course, but this is not the only reason for their success. As these smart people work hard, practice a lot, then how can we ordinary people practice little? So,start practicing now!
